RPGC Writing Workshop

As I have been through several myself, I was wondering how interested the people of RPGC would be in a writing workshop. This wouldn’t be happening now, but it would happen in the near future if there is interest. I would be able to help with fiction and playwriting (if anybody wants to write a couple of scenes), if someone could help with poetry and/or creative nonfiction pieces (otherwise, we’re out of luck with both of those, because I write terrible poetry and do not write nonfiction).

Basically, what I would be aiming for at first is a self-contained flash fiction (750 words or less) or a short scene in a play (about five pages). I, as well as your peers, will highlight the positive and negative aspects of your piece (the format will be decided later). Yes, yes it is work. But if this is done right, then you will become a better writer because of it. I will assure you of that.

I will ask (if this ever happens) that no fanfiction of any sort be posted. Thank you.

If there are any questions or comments, please feel free to say something.

Sounds groovy. I’d being willing to give it a shot.

Arrrr, if I’m writing I’ll take part, and I’ll have a read of the stuff anyway.

If there’s anyone else interested, I’d be glad to do this, but I won’t do it with only two people. No offense meant to the people interested.

I’m interested in it, but I’m not sure if you guys can help with my biggest problem - laziness. I’d be happy to critique others though, and fofer what I can.

I’d participate in this. I could help with nonfiction, too, and maybe poetry. I can write good poetry in sporadic bursts that last afew weeks, then it all sucks for months. So it would be luck of the draw based on when we had it if I was in a poetic mood.

I probably won’t have time but I give the project my seal of approval.

If I’m in a creative mood I may come up with something, but I’m a man ruled by his whims.

Awesome; I think that I have enough people interested. This is the week that all of my papers are due, and so I’ll not be doing it quite yet, but expect a thread in approximately a week and a half, perhaps two weeks. It would be advisable to either provide me with a flash fiction (a short story that is only 100-750 words), short story (less than 10,000 words, please), a novel excerpt (chapter, or whatever), poetry or song lyrics (I’m not quite as good with those, so be wary), a short scene for a stage play or television show or a movie (proper formatting is impossible in the forums, but try to make it as clear as possible- a short scene should be about five pages [easier than it sounds]), or even a short nonfiction piece if you wish (again, less than 10,000 words, please). One or more of these would be fine.

The more polished it is the more likely people will receive it well, so at least check for grammatical and spelling errors; I hate pointing those out.
