That’s easily explained: They necessarily have to make the threads before they make the attempt, and when they do, they fail to follow through, or most likely, they’re simply bastards who want the attention and pity.
It’s been done before, it’ll be done again. We’re on the Internet, and here it’s the exception and not the rule that they’re actually dead.
