Oh I agree they’re awesome the whole game, but they don’t quite stack up against someone who does 8 massive hits with just the Fight command. Of course, the whole party can’t be doing that (good luck getting 4 Offerings) so those high single hit blows are still nifty for the non-Offering’d people.
I’ve been getting into challenges lately- FF6 is just far, far too easy for my taste. This run through I’m not going to equip any espers. (though I’m still going to collect them all) The last one was keeping my levels low- I fought Kefka with characters ranging from level 25-35, and won quite easily anyway
I believe there’s a hack online (probably multiple hacks) that increase FF6’s difficulty. I know there’s at least one that limits magic use to specific characters (no more big brawlers casting magic).
This guy made a bunch of patches to fix glitches in the game:

The Evade fix is expecially important.
Yeah, for those who don’t know, it was discovered by rom hackers that the evade statistic in FF6 has absolutely no purpose whatsoever. This is a stunning overlook on Square’s part, considering there are items you find and buy(for instance, Goggles), that raise the evade statistic. It shows how the development of the game really came down to the last minute.
Uh, no. Evade was never broken, at least not in the cart or PSX versions. One of my favourite items was the Zephyr Cape because it raised evade substantially, and it showed in battles.
On the carts, it’s been long known that the M. Block stat calculates the evade rate for all attacks. Get 128% or over and you effectively dodge any kind of attack that isn’t unblockable. This makes any character that can get to or near it without the Merit Award a lot more desirable.
Hades’, you’re wrong. Evade is useless. This has been proven by actually hacking into roms. Talk to anyone on the Gamefaqs FF6 forum. Its possible it was fixed in the PSX version, but I doubt it.
As Gamer5 just pointed out, “M.Block” handles enemy miss rate.
