Ramadan has begun

That’s worse… I kinda feel instulted…

Worse because now it’s your religion and not someone else’s?

And it could be funnier, if you just didn’t put any character on top of Sinistar, you’d be insulting scientology.

My buddy Sami is muslim.

He gets up before dawn to eat breakfast, then has a huge meal after the sun goes down.

So what is the fasting in Ramadan supposed to represent? Is it to repent for sins or something like that?

I’m not sure what the religious significance of Ramadan is, but I’m sure it has some practical non-religious purpose, like circumcision with Judaism. My guess is that the original intent would be to save up on food after the harvest or someting so that there’s enough food to last through the winter, something like that. I’m probably wrong tough.

I really need to read more about religions…

No, someone advising other people to be mature and to exercise self-restraint while at the same time spending multiple posts to explain that he makes funnier jokes (or less unfunny) than people two generations below him is funnier than anything TD or zep can come up with.

Food for thought.

Nah, I don’t really mind TD’s jokes. After all, you have to remember that he will never get laid, so he has to take out his frustration on us. It’s okay

Ramadan is supposed to cleanse your soul, and repent for your sins, by going through hunger like the poor. Ramadan also reminds us that food’s important and we shouldn’t waste it.

Is that really a traditional Muslim hat on Sinistar though? Like, it reminds me more of the hats some black people wear, especially near Kwanzaa.

I think that’s what’s supposed to make it hilariously wrong :stuck_out_tongue:

Fasting has been considered a healthy and cleansing practice for most of history. All the Greek philosophers and most major religious figures fasted for health. It obviously has benefits: You no longer feel clogged on the inside. You can think more clearly, without the lethargy caused by overeating. The food you do eat will taste better, since you want it that much more. You’ll build up self-restraint. I don’t how Ramadan originated, but I’m sure at various points it’s been justified by all these reasons.

If I’m right, then I think TD was just stupid.

Google was, actually.

Klez wins.

I understand Wilfredo’s point and he was only trying to head-off something that Knightblade might have found insulting or insensitive. As it is he doesn’t so there’s no need to fight with each other…

I could argue that eating less periodically will do little to unclog your arteries and that fasting will lead to reduced blood glucose levels, depressing the system overall, meaning an increase in lethargy. The food tasting better will be merely a change in perception on your part because of how your hypothalamus is really directing you to eat.

It is good discipline though.

If you go without eating all day, then come sunset you have fillet mignon, is it really that much of a sacrifice?

Like during Lent for us Catholics. I’ve talked to some people who were like, “Its Friday, I can’t eat meat.” Then they go have lobster and crab for dinner. Yeah, you’re really toughing it. Thats a real big sacrifice.

one generation.

That’s my favorite part of Lent.

I think Ramadan is a little different than Lent for the sole reason that its harder to go without food for long periods of time, several days in a row, regardless what you eat before or after, than just not eating a type of food on a given day. Ramadan lasts 40 days and trust me, 40 days on a minimal diet is rough.

It is :frowning:

I heard that you can’t even drink water while the sun is out.

Is that true?
