Ragnarok Online: The Denounment

sounds like a bad case of legaia-ism.

And Payon’s the hard place to go anywhere. *?$/)(…

no the hard place is aldebaron if you accidentally make your save point there, it took me 2 hours to get a good warp to prontera from there, and it was either that or face creatures that do 300+damage to a novice/low lvl swordie

Geffen is the best place to level, there’s hardly anyone there compared to the other towns and it’s got quite easy enemies that have quite a bit of experience, apart from drops.

I be insmulted by you critissicing teh Engrish in this exxcellent game. It rooles ur arse!

And I thought they had transferred the responsibility of the International Engrish Version to an American company. Well. Apparantly not.

I can agree with pretty much everything you’ve said, sadly, Ragnarok Online is a drug; pretty much like these forums. Although. I haven’t had problems leveling, I suppose there’s a trick to it. I don’t know what trick that is, however.

Except this board doesn’t have shitty gameplay.

And would you guys shut up about the tanks already? If I wanted to play with tanks, I’d play Command and Conquer: Generals. Again. For another 5 hours or so. Consecutive.

err, Anyway, the point is, the fact that this “Tanking” sounds absolutely neccesary kinda makes my point stronger, namely, that the gameplay sucks if it requires you to get whores like that in order to survive.

HA i didnt get tanked, and im now a lvl 25/18 swordie and i probably put way less time in it than you think you need to, its just i went for the strongest creatures I could take and if I died oh well. But I was getting at least 3% a kill till I got to rockers.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> You don’t HAVE to get tanked, it’s just handy for non-fighting chars because the novice period is annoying when you’re pumping int :stuck_out_tongue: I only got tanked for 20% of a job level. The rest I did on my own.

Yeah, except I’m a swordsman, not a mage…

Did your class CHANGE to swordsman yet?

yeah td it is nice for non sword/thiefs to get tanked so you dont need to spend years for lvling. X um what lvl are you and what are you fighting? also what are your stats?

Well the fact that it takes so long may not appeal as fun to most, but if you think about it… the game is usually p2p, and would you want to pay to become ungodly powerful in 2 days? I wouldnt I know that.

About money, yes at first getting money is next to impossible. But later on the things you sell, sell for like 20-50z times that by however many you find… and your rich quick (I usually get 2500z per selling trip)

Tanks are not “necessary” they just speed up the long and annoying trip out of novicehood and help out a lot.

X: Kill as many monsters as you can possibly get away with, or get someone who’s agreeable to help you gang up on another monster. When I was about 7/6, I was siegeing Mandragora’s to get a lot of experience, and taking on Thief Bugs with a girl from Hong Kong. Just because you’re a swordy doesn’t mean you have to go Conan and be a one-man-army (save that for later  )

The English is bad (and some people stick to the game’s English rigidly: “Scimiter for CHEAP”), but when you wade through people sitting in the middle of the damn road shouting at each other (publicly, not in a 1:1 or anything), in Japanese, German and Freedom (sometimes concurrently), you realize that poor English is the worst of your communication obstacles.

Also, you can get a discount from list price on weapons/armor by buying them second-hand. Just wait for the dealer to seal his end of the bargain first, once you’ve aggreed upon the price. Quite a few people will sell you a Blade for about 2K, which gives them a better margin than 1,450Z and saves you 900Z.

All this stuff is pretty self evident, of course.

As for the experience/pricing, I think a little gouging on either end is okay, especially when it can be reduced. The tough enemies encourage parties, and the high prices encourage marketplace selling.

nicely said Kraken, since RO is supposed to be more about character interaction than NPC/character interaction everything is gonna be hard(er) if you go it alone, especially as a novice or other low lvl char
Edit- really all MMORPGS should be heavy player to player stuff instead of player to npc but most aren’t so obviously biased toward the player/player aspect

I had fun leveling up; Many laughs from:
“…So… the butterfly got you too?” “Yeah… lol”
“AAAAHHHH!!! TOO MANY THIEFBUGSTOOMANYTHIEFBUGS!!”
“…Maba, DON’T ATTACK THE MOLE WITH THE SUNG… doh…”

I got my novice to acolyte with help from Starrocker, TD, Sal, Cless, and any other who were there then.

Now, to upgrade my heal/tele to start making money…

My problem is selling the rare stuff i have, I have about 150K worth of rares that i need to sell, and people just don’t have that much.

Speaking freedom? Good lord, come on, don’t tell my you’re substituting ‘French’ for freedom…

Sadly, it looks like he is.

It may have just been a reaction as it has been a bit of a hot topic lately replacing french with freedom
