Radiata Stories

I didn’t realize that this had been released until I saw it in the store this evening. Has anyone played it? What do you think about it?

Gameplay wise= Watered down version of SO3. You only control the main character.

Since there are 175 main characters, probably only a few of them are well developed, not unlike Chrono Cross.

Apparently it’s supposed to be funny.

I’m going to give it a shot tomorrow. It’s got to be better than Battlefield 2. At least I won’t have to waste a fucking hour trying to install it.

Conceptually it sounds like a cross between SO3 and CC. Which imo sounds like a bad premise.

heard from my friend that freya and lenneth valkyrie are playable characters in radiata stories ? is it true, had anyone recurited both of them?

My friend and I played it for the first time last night. The battle system is a watered down SO3. What really upsets me about the game is that only the main character (a swordsman, suprised?) is the only customizable and playable character. I may be wrong as I know there are several events that may change this, but I’m not keeping my hopes up.

The story isn’t anything earth shattering, but it is really funny. I won’t spoil anything but if you enjoy going around and kicking and fighting drunks, you’ll love this game. It’s got a sort of Suikoden feel to it because you have to find and recruit all the characters, some requiring you do something first or finding them at a certain time.

I’ll wait for others to comment before I get any more specific. If you got any questions, fire away.

most probably i will borrowed this game from my friend to try… since this rpg is not that good… i won’t waste money to buy.

tri-Ace burned me bad with SO3, which destroyed any goodness in their games, so I’m leery of buying another one. Hopefully someone has a good comparison for me.

Is radiata stories a comedy/parody rpg like The Bard’s Tale? If it is, I’m gonna play it

I just put my mouse over the radiata stories on gamefaqs and then the ad turned bigger

Internet advertising is reaching a new low. I forgot to mention there’s full screen ads on gamefaqs that get past Firefox’s blocker

It’s not a parady of anything, it’s just funny in general. You get hours of enjoyment going around and kicking everything in sight. OK, it gets stale eventually, but it was a great addition.

Needs more save points. Played the first couple hours a few times. 'cause I died when I wandered off into the cave in the second town (I also wasted all my healing items picking fights against the townspeople. Will I gain a bad rep or something if I keep picking fights?). Then I got sent all the way back to near the first town.
(okay, so I later find out there’s a save point in the second town, too. But it doesn’t appear until you’ve done the first event there.)
And hopefully, there’s some depth to the day/night system…
(well, the first explorable town seems to suggest most people have “lives”).
So far, the game seems funny (today I got as far as it making a scene if you try to send the main character into the ladies room. So we’ll see which definition of “funny” this game takes…).

I hope this game is still around next month…I’ll pick it up then. I am going to invest in it even though I’ve heard so much negative press.

Wow, it’s too bad there’s no more save points. But machosist gamers would love that, because a lot of gamers like everything to be harder

You mean games are only around the month they came out? Just about every game i bought was older and came down in price, like Star Ocean 3, Demon Stone, and Final Fantasy 8.

What do I think about it?

It’s Square-Enix. Stay the fuck away, or it’ll eat your children.

The story doesn’t change if you go around and kick everybody in the crotch. You cannot use save points during a mission, which kinda sucks. However, the save point in your room is always usable.

Do you have to kick everything to do good in the game?

Hidden stuff in a game like Final FAntasy 4’s lunar palace weapons are sometimes necessary to beat a game. They probably make it harder so you have to find the secrets.

Then again, having those secrets makes the game easier. But maybe if there weren’t secrets in a different game, they would make it easier, since there’s no weapons you can use

Lately, I feel I have to do all the secrets in an rpg to do good. I couldn’t imagine doing kefka’s tower without getting all the stuff in the world of ruin, and his tower was tough anyways! Even though Final Fantasy 6 is a pretty easy game

I’m glad this thread is here… Yesterday I was in EBGames with cash in hand about to buy this game… I decided against it. Good choice apparently.

there should be games that change no matter what you do. i’ve played games where you can abuse the crap out of townsfolk and shop owners, and they’re still perfectly nice to you. there should be more shop owners like the one in Link’s Awakening. Steal something and you die!!! :mwahaha:

kind of a sadistic store owner though.

The game kicks ass, i played it yesterday, my dad bought it for me, Yay!!! I think the game rocks, its a funny action rpg. Just the kind of Games i like. I would like to have named my chararcter, but when i found out that his dad was a famous knight, it kinda defated the purpose. I think his dad looked awesome when his eyes glowed red, that fricken rocked.

I’m enjoying it so far. The style of the world, the music, the character development, and yes, even the humor are pretty well done IMO.

Kicking people is fun too.
