Prison for porn?

I was just trying to be funny with the Furry comment…

What I find weird is that Ashcroft used the word “invades” to describe porn.

While I admit that porno ads on the internet are common enough, is someone breaking down the door of your home with porno mags and plopping them in front of the kids? For the most part, porn is there when it’s accessed I think.

ANd if you’re accessing it then it’s your own damn business.

yeah, that sounds like something they’d try.

A link between masturbation and terrorism. When, of course, it’s the opposite that’s true. LACK of masturbation causes terrorism. Just think about it: get some young adult males, deprive them of sexual release, gonna have a lot of pent up energy and frustration…

Let these kids get some action and they won’t feel like blowing us up. I mean, come on now, the whole “seventy virgins” fantasy is I think very telling. These suicide bombers are guys who can’t get some!

If you at least give 'em some smut to whack off to (I dunno, maybe an issue of “seventy virgins” magazine of something) they’ll at least be too tired (or should I say beat? buahahaha) to wanna killl anybody.

Just imagine how calmed down and non-violent they’d be if we hired a few hookers for 'em…

Me love you long time! 5 dollar sucky sucky

I want my porn!(as well as my old mtv back)

Ultra conservatives make baby jesus cry ?

They can’t take out our porn…

Someday in the near future… A lot countries will take side against the US… I’m afraid… We (a lot of european folks) don’t like to be controlled or have our minds made up by others…

Neither do Americans.

Actions speak louder than words. I think that many Americans would rather have decisions made for them, as most of them aren’t doing a damned thing about having their rights tramped upon. Most of us cared more that the former president was getting a fucking blow job than the fact that the “Patriot” Act took away a big chunk of our rights.

That being said, I don’t think that America will let Ashcroft walk away with their porno. =p

Wouldn’t ridding the world of porn destroy the internet?

shakefist

Given the millions of dollars Americans are spending each month on adult cable television, Internet sites and magazines and videos

People pay for it???

Wouldn’t ridding the world of porn destroy the internet?

If you rid the world of porn I think you’d have no internet left to destroy.

“Porn doesn’t hurt anybody”? And what about the “models”?
I’ve lost the book so I don’t know what the pornstar who wrote it was named, but I recall that she was a very popular one and that the book was named “Purgatory” (“Skärselden”). Something like this:

“All that I could see was the cold iron circle of the gunpoint aimed at me. The scene seemed frozen; the cameraman glaring impatiently while the producer held the gun with one hand and pointed at the bed with the other.
As I began unbuttoning my blouse, I had given up hope.
But had I known how disgusting the movie would be, I would have let them shoot me.”

I can’t understand you people who seem to think that these women are into it willingly. Some might be, but I’m 100% sure that most aren’t. Sex is not the same for women as it is for men. If we’re not sure that we want it, it will hurt and be very unpleasant.

Weiila, you’re right that it can be derogatory towards women, and because of that I understand the opposion to it.

HOWEVER, you missed some key points: the book you’re talking about (based off it’s name) is not an American book. This is an AMERICAN “war” on Porn. I know that some nasty things are done in other countries in this regard, but that’s a different topic than this thread. If you want to discuss porns image of women and how it’s derogatory and (in many foreign cases) criminal, then I’ll back you up. However, American women who do porn (Jenna Jameson, for one) do it because they LIKE it. In America if someone is forced to do something sexual it is a crime, and I’m willing to bet that anyone here would be opposed to it, as well as most people who look at porn. It’s impossible to argue “they have no choice”, before a woman becomes a porn star there are still 100 options available (both in the sex industry (dancer, etc) and outsideof it). Any forced sex is criminal, and I’ll be the first to agree to that (hell, it pisses me off so much I’d kill the person who’s forcing it given the chance), but forced sex and sex due to poverty are not the things this “war” is due to.

I’m not arguing against you Weiila, because, to be honest, I don’t even like porn because of it’s put-down on women, and thus I don’t support it. Still, I know that women (and men) have their rights to both make porn and to watch it. The mass advertisement of it I wouldn’t mind seeing cut back, but not by the methods proposed in this article, which is why I (like almost everyone else here) finds it humorus.

In short: I agree with what you have to say, but this is not the place for your arguement.

I’ll jump into this and say that I haven’t read the thread except for Weiila’s post.

Anyway, Weiila, you have to realize that not everybody gets a gun put to their head. Some people want to be in the adult entertainment industry, so they work through the system, being somebodies aide or something and then they spring for an acting job. Some people want to do it for a career, some people need college money, some people just need to pay the bills, some people have kids to feed, but there isn’t a doubt in my mind that there aren’t some women that want to do this. People often state that porn is a put down on women, or that it degrades women. How does it do this? Is it degrading for men to be in porn? No? Why not? Men have just as much, dare I say more, pride as women, so why should it be degrading to women and not men? Oh, wait - it’s degrading to humanity. So, let me get this straight - the single most important act of our lives, which we will all perform many, many times, an act neccessary to the survival of our race, being video taped and sold for money is degrading? Sounds like a living to me.

Also, the Adult Entertainment Industry is a $10 Billion a year industry that employs millions of people; there is no way it’s going down.

If they get rid of porn, the whole internet will cease to exist…This looks like a job for…uh…uh…Mr T! :suckah:
