Popful Mail

I was just wondering if any die hard Sega fans out there (probably counting only myself and a few others) have played Popful Mail. I just got done finishing it and I must say that I’ve never had more fun playing an RPG in my life. The game is short (take about 10 hours at most to beat), but what makes this game fun is the comedy that it has in it. The voice acting (for the time) was top notch. But what gets me is that John Truitt (the voice of Ghaleon in all the Lunar games) plays the voice of Mumbles, an old, wise, and humble dwarf! I never would have guessed it until I saw the credits. And of course the best thing is probably the anime-like sequences every now and then in the game. Before Lunar 2 came out, this was probably the best out there.

But anyways, for those who really haven’t played the game, I suggest finding it somewhere and playing it (it’s for the Sega CD, and Mr. Saturn, I still have to send you the copy like I promised you a while back). It is a typical sidescroller and plays a lot similar to Ys 3. None the less, it is a very fun (and funny) RPG. Give it a shot if you ever come across it.

[edit] Speaking of voices however, I just found out that Ashley Angle, who did such voices as Alex from Lunar, Pottle from Vay, and Slick from Popful Mail, is in the band O-Town… oh great. He’s in a boy band now. Now I can’t like the guy anymore >_<

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> I’ve heard of the game, and it sounds fun, but I’ve never been able to get myself hooked up with an iso of it.

I have the CD. in order for me to send it to Mr. Saturn, I’d have to burn it to ISO format. If I do that, I can probably send one to somebody to use for their f-serv or whatever.

www.emuasylum.com

once in a while, that site has some sega cd ISOs, but they eat up a lot of bandwidth, so they take them down early each month. check it out at the beginning of the month and you might be all set.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Oh, if you can pass it on, I’ll distribute it through #rpgc.

If you give me some sort of reason to look TD, I’d be able to find you basically any ISO you ever wanted, in like a few hours. Hell, I had the Popful Mail ISO before my computer got formatted a long while back.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Oh, then I have a whole list for you :stuck_out_tongue: And the reason for you to look…

I loved that game! Did you ever hear of the game Pople Mail for SNES? I downloaded the rom for it a while back and I think it’s some kind of remake/port. The graphic style is also different. It was never translated to english but it’s still enjoyable.

But anyways, Popful Mail was a lot of fun.

Man, what use do I have for a bag with a funky L on it? I know it’s probably filled with some sort of saw dust.

Popful Mail isn’t that good. Not complex, not that funny to me.

And don’t diss Ashley Angle just cos he’s in a boy band. Lord. :stuck_out_tongue: Not all boy bands are particularly bad either, but that’s for a totally different discussion.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> SG, I feel like an ultimate cheeseburger right about now.

“Girl, you know that there’s one thing that I love…”

Anyway, Popful Mail rocks. Unfortunately, I’ve only been able to play about 2-3 hours of it. edgeemu.com has the ISO available, but only if you donate $30 or something. Don’t have that kind of money to spend on ISOs. I’d rather go buy the legit game. Hell, I just bought Panzer Dragoon Saga for $100.

Don’t knock the guy. He’s still the same ol’ Alex. He recently appeared on an episode of Clone High where he basically made fun of himself. If you watch the behind the scenes video that came with Lunar: Silver Star Story on PSX, it shows him a bit. He doesn’t seem like the type that would change because of that.

I just have to remember the site where I got the burning information from and I can pass along the ISO.

I tried Sega CD Emus n’shit, but it got to be a pain in the ass. I’ll try again when I get a better computer, because I REALLY want to play the Lunar games. I mean, magical-ass-kicking-kitty. Can’t go wrong with that.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Well, I have the Iso thanks to Epic, and it’s now under my roms trigger in #rpgc.

Told you, do not doubt the master :stuck_out_tongue:

remember that you need a bios file in order to emulate Sega CD games on GENS.

you also might want to make sure that you have the mp3 files with it…

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Oh, crap, forgot about that. Been a while. No, I don’t have it.

I have the bios files if need be… 2 American, a European, and a Japanese Bios.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Could you zip 'em up and send them to me?
