You know the entire series is mame-able, right?
You know, I’ve only ever played a Darkstalkers game once, but I’ve heard nothing but good things. I might just have to give this a rent.
It may just be me, but I do not see the PS2 controller being good at ALL for Capcom style fighters. The Saturn controller was the last controller I used that felt NORMAL when playing Capcom fighters.
Any controller other than Joystick + 6 buttons is awkward for capcom fighters.
Well, the Saturn controller didn’t have a joystick. It had a control pad which, while not quite as sensitive, was still pretty good. The six button layout was still what made it good though.
Exactly. The new SF controllers pretty much mimic the Saturn set up.
Hell yeah. I actually have an adapter for my PSX that allows me to use my Saturn controllers (no select button sucks… ). So long as ths doesn’t require pressure sensative buttons (and why would it?), I should be able to use that adapter. This looks freaking awesome.
/me fires up import copy of Vampire Savior for Saturn…
As long as Lilith’s playable on it, I’m gonna be contented. ^^
The only thing that is kinda crappy about PSX controllers and Capcom fighters (Or any 2D fighter for that matter) is that it’s a little hard to do down to left motions, and holding crouch blocks are kind of hard; often times, you’ll be holding the down button enough, but not the left or right button enough, so you crouch and then don’t block.
Personally, I think the best controller for fighting games was the SNES controller. The only thing hard to do was 360s, and not cos it was literally diffucult…it just HURT. But, you get over that after a while, just like you get over the “I’m losing circulation to my left thumb from charging these Sonic Booms and Flash Kicks” thing after a while.
Somebody should explain the difference between all these games. Or, more specifically, the difference between Vampire Savior, Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2.
I can’t say I’ve ever researched differences between the three games, but based on what I’ve seen through MAME, VH2 and VS2 are just variants of VS (which was Darkstalkers 3 in this part of the world) with different characters.
