Heh, this is clever. I especially like the Super NES cartridge-like poster. I’ll check it out.

OK, I did download and read it, so here’s my comments:

What this is, basically, is an original RPG setting that happens to use names and concepts from Final Fantasy VI (and I presume, Secret of Mana- I’m not familiar enough with that game to tell) and D&D rules. You can’t play it by itself- you need the D20 system rules (which you can download for free these days, I hear) and (apparently) some D&D books for things like class abilities.

It’s pretty well done, overall: well-developed world background, lots of variety in races and lands, etc. It leaves a lot open for the GM to invent or reinterpret, which is a good thing. Some characters with familiar names (such as King Edward) are mentioned but not described. It does include ready-for-play original characters, however, and plenty of (surprisingly good) fanart. In fact the whole package looks pretty professional; I’m impressed. If anything, there’s a lack of a clear menace to combat. Well, there are two, actually: The Empire from FFVI, and a race of Gnomes that have “gone Nazi” (!) but there’s nothing shown of their current plans, which I suppose is meant for the GM to come up with, though I think a few adventure seeds would have helped (maybe they are there and I just missed them, it was a lot to read.)

And it features Santa Claus as a god. How can you not love that? And the Elves hate him! :stuck_out_tongue:

If you’re into playing D&D-style tabletop RPGs and FF video games, then this is for you. Sadly, I’m not currently involved in D&D gaming anymore, so I probably won’t use it myself. But hey, check it out- it’s FREE, so you have nothing to lose! At the very least, it makes for a good read.
