No, it doesn’t happen in the original Dragon Warrior game. I remember it being called the Mirror of Ra for the NES games at least.

Isn’t Dragon Warrior 1 an nes game. I know in DQVI it’s called the mirror of ra.
Yes, Dragon Warrior is a NES game, as is Dragon Warrio II, III, and IV. (I have all the old cartridges)
