Nazi Cosplay

I found some interesting cosplaying ideas. To the Japanese dressing up as a Nazi is the same as dressing up as any Anime villan.

Thoughts? :toast:

Maybe I’ll put it on and do a little shopping, is that what you thought?

Well, Nazis do make Indiana Jones movies 100% better.

Guess i’d rather dress as a soviet, even though Stalin was responsible for more deaths then Hitler, and we had that whole “cold war thing” with them, dressing as a Soviet is still more PC then dressing as a Nazi

Not really, just thougt it was interesting.

I read an article a while back, and apparently in the far east coast (such as Tailand), Nazi stuff is kind of a fad. They have red swastica banners hanging in malls and such

Cool… I guess. <_<;; But why?

Well in WWII the Japanese and Germans were Allies so that could be a reason. Japan has always held Germany in high respect. In the first World War Japan fought against Germany, but instead of the brutality that the Japanese Army was known for in WWII. German P.O.W.'s were treated quite well. Some would say as heros.

I’d take German WWI hemets over nazi armbands anyday. Those spikes ontop of the hemets were neat

Thus once again proving the Japanese culture is weird beyond explanation. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d say it’d be pretty weird for me to even approach a piece of Nazi paraphenalia with anything but disgust. But then, I’m a history student and have a slightly more sensitive view of history than those cosplayers. Dunno how they do it. Or why they don’t get banned from contributing to the gene pool.

I really don’t understand how you can be fascinated with and laud those who slaughtered millions of people in cold blood for no good fucking reason.

Also, you didn’t get my quote, so you lose.

I like German Soldiers not Nazi Soldiers. A Nazi Soldier was someone like Amon Goeth. A German Soldier was someone like Siegfried Knappe.

And yes I didn’t get your quote, oh well no big loss.

I guess thats the reason people are interested in it, since theyy wanna know why they were fighting for several years, why all those people died for their country, and how people like Hitler and Stalin get into power.

But thats not really a reason to dress up as a nazi, unless your apart of some historical society and are doing a battle recreation…

What do you think about Paul Baumer?

Most of why I would be worried about someone dressed up as a Nazi rather than a Soviet is that fascism is a far more disturbing ideology than communism, which was a noble goal in its inception, but quickly became another tool of the powerful to control people.

Ah good point

The original fascist vision, though flawed, is in my opinion far more noble than communism. It had society divided in strictly ordered classes by merit, with philosophers as the ruling class.

Communism is a philosophy of decadence. By enforcing equality of status, it eliminates the will to self-actualization. The will to be oneself, to stand out: this is what drives people to act. Communism destroys that will to action. Look at the Soviet Union: an increasingly depressed and weary nation, which eventually lost its will to exist and disintegrated. It still has not recovered - Russia is still in a sorry state, more than a decade after communism fell.

Now, look at 20th century Germany. After WWI, it was devastated, more than Russia ever had been or would be. Yet, Germany became absolutely convinced that it had a place to reclaim in the world. It believed it had a unique potential, and was determined to actualize it. A decade after being crushed and humiliated, it essentially declared war on the civilized world. Fascist system? Yes.

Japan has traditionally wanted to stand out as well. In the late 1800’s, over about thirty years, it rose from being an island nation with no significant influence to being a world power - and its ambitions were still higher. Japan recognized that Germany had similar ambitions, and admired Germany for that immensely. So they joined together in WWII. Japan lost, with millions of casualties, depleted resources, and at least two major cities annihilated. Yet, it still had its determination to stand out in the world: this time, not by war, but by playing the same economic game as everyone else, and playing it better. Again, within a decade, Japan’s prominence in the world exploded. Now it has the second largest economy in the world.

Japan has always been rather fascist. Society there is very hierarchical. The will to attain a high position is a major part of life. As a result, Japan, a little island with no natural resources, is now the second largest economy. Germany has not done badly either. Contrast that with Russia: the lumbering giant, with massive resources, massive numbers of people, and nothing to show for it. Communism ruined Russia.

Freaks!
*Nod, nod.

Mind you, while Fascism is worrying, Nazism is still the greater evil.

But, while one can look at what communism did for Russia, one can also look at what communism did for China.

Uhhh, gradualy turn into capitalism?

These nazis are sexxier than any other nazis i’ve seen. and I’ve seen alot of sexy nazis!
