My video files aren't working (except for Real Media somehow)... a.k.a. HELP PLZ THX

Yeah, so, I’m still getting stuff arranged on my new computer, but I’ve run into a slight problem…

F**ked up MPEG/Avi playback…

Like, when I try to play something through the latest Windows Media (not WMX mind), it takes about two damn minutes for the video to show up, and it only plays it in chops, with no sound.

As for quicktime, nothing is popping up at all, and I have to ctrl-alt-del-asskck it just to make the computer run again.

Suggestions?

Oh, and I’m not popping up just now to say this and be gone. It’s just I prefer the chat more than the boards now. :stuck_out_tongue:

So in short… omg hlp plz???//

Make sure to uninstall all your other codecs etc first.

VLC!

How do I uninstall the codecs?

Toolbox - Multimedia - Drivers - Video thingy?

Then I just uninstall all of them??

The videolan thing loads them up and plays them, but with no video and sound. The time tracker at least works… -_-

Damn used computer…

You bought it used? I suggest formatting it, no telling what kind of shit is on it.

If codec packs have been installed they should be under programs or software like other stuff. If not just install defilerpak, see what happens.

Since this is a thread about video, I’ll ask here.

Seriously, what IS the problem everyone has with Windows Media Player? As far as I can see it doesn’t take up an offensive amount of HD space, it plays the damn videos, it has a couple of features that are actually pretty useful, and you can still use DefilerPack with it. About the only thing that I’ve ever had a problem with it that it takes over filetypes when you install, and THAT only takes a few seconds to make right. So why does everyone seem to hate it so much?

It’s bloated, unstable and buggy. It also just flat out doesn’t work with some stuff, despite having proper codecs.

On a good day i can shit out a better media player than WMP.
