Let's talk FFT builds

Yeah, so all that talk about Final Fantasy Tactics got my mind reeling about the good ol’ days when my team of custom [STRIKE]misfits[/STRIKE]characters roamed Ivalice.

I had a few I loved to toss around…

Politician Pen

Male Mediator

Talk
Math Skill
Split Damage
Secret Hunt
Float

Basically, a back stabbing, poaching mother fucker. Uses his super political powers to talk trash to people, and if that doesn’t help, he’ll shoot the bastard! OR use his extensive knowledge of magic (and bullshit) he learnt while in college, kissing ass and blackmailing. Floating just helps him target people with the Height factor in the Math skill, and besides, it’s annoying as hell to have a politician floating around, right?

PWNshop Sunday

Female Priest

White Magic
Draw Out
Dragon Spirit
Equip Gun
Move +2

Ok. A Nun. With a Gun. And Swords. That get’s back up if you knock her down (unless she’s magic’ed or one-shotted.) Think about it. Ranged attack when nothing else is going on… Mobility… and DRAW OUT which relies on Magic Power. Yeah, I could give it to a Black Mage, but it’s not as interesting. I was going to make her “Hobo Nun” and be all like “HAY GUIES LOOK I FOUND THIS SWORD” and then it glows and kills shit. But PWNshop came into play better.

Oh, and she, um, heals.

Anime Supergal

Female Lancer

Jump
Punch Art
Blade Grasp
Attack UP
Fly

I envisioned Ryoko when making this character. Flying, swooping bitch that can rip up the ground and punch people through air. Not the strongest character, but fun anways.

Don Gardener

Male Geomancer

Elemental
Item
Blade Grasp
Two Hands
Ignore Height

Originally a mistake. I was raising him up to equip Rods, but then saw no such ability. So I gave him swords and found him to be salvagable still. First, though, I lower his Faith so low, he thinks that magic is for faggots and Twilight-lovers. Then I throw on the Twisted Headband, Judo Outfit, and Bracer to get his Attack Power SO ENERGETIC! Then I let him leap mountains in a single bound so he can FUCKING MAIN YETI’S AND EAT THAT BITCH MOUTAIN!! If he was feeling down, he’d eat a potion. GLASS AND ALL! He did so much damage with just a single attack, he was my buuuuuuuudy. :3

Spoony Bard

Male Ninja

Throw
Sing
Abandon
Equip Shield
Move +3

Toss him a shield, a strong cloak, and that dagger that increases evasion, and you get the point. A Dodgy, Spoony Bard.

sniff. I miss these lugs…

I was too busy min/maxing everybody to bother coming up with interesting details about my characters (and I mean EVERYBODY, down to Boko).

Besides if I start talking about FFT that’s just going to make me want to play through it again, and I just don’t have nearly enough time to go through that game again.

I must admit I wasn’t very original. I suppose everyone and their mother has done Flying Ninjas and Nuns With Guns… then there’s of course the Holy Hand Nerd Brigade, five calculators wearing Chameleon Robes and calculating Holy all over the place…

I once had the Singing Hypocrite Hippy, a Geomancer with a Bard skillset who flew all over the place singing and shooting people with his magic gun. He obviously had Auto Potion as his reaction, because everyone knows hippies’ first measure to deal with any and all stimuli is pop whatever shit they’ve got on hand.

And the Terminator, a fully armed dual-wielding Excalibur/Save The Queen Knight with Move+3, Auto Regen wearing the Maximillian, with a Monk’s skillset, mainly because of Chakra. Guy was unkillable.

Oh, and I had Black Mage. Like, 8-bit Theatre Black Mage. Summoner Skillset, Equip Knife, Teleport and… I dunno what I had for Reaction. I pretty much had the whole 8Bit party, though I couldn’t find a substitute for Sword Nunchucks.

Damn, you guys are creative. I tend to go with the flow. Still had a lot of fun, though. So much so that I played the game twice, just to try out the Job system more (and I hated the ending, too!) :scream:

First Time: I just used everybody in the game, including optionals like Cloud and the robot.

Second Time: Made ONE character of every Job (those whose jobs are available later had to be other things first, of course.)

I’m doing a similar thing in Wild Arms XF, but there I only use the Drifters to go pick up materials, I have the main characters learn all the classes (split evenly among all) instead.

Clarissa: Fantastica/Sacred Slayer/Strider
Felius: Secutor/Sentinel/Berserker
Labyrinthia: Elementalist/Geomancer/Enigmancer
Levin: Gadgeteer/Excavator/Grappler
Ragnar: Nightstalker/Extremist
Alexia: Emulator/High Cavalier

Now that I think about it at one time I ended up turning Ramza from an almost purely physical build (Squire & Knight) into a Wizard by equipping every magic might boosting item I had on hand (Wizard’s Wand, Red Shoes, and I forget what else) and had him with Item, Auto-Potion, Equip Armor, and Move +1 (note: I may be lying about the equip armor bit since it’s been ages since I even looked at that file).

Not terribly efficient but it got me through the Wiegraf battle during my first playthrough.

If I had to give the build a name it would be Ranger Ramza.

I’m so using that next time…

Well I never gave goofy class names to my characters but…

I almost always have Ramza with Punch Art, Auto Potion(using X-Potion of course), Two Swords(Chaos Blade and Excalibur), and Teleport. That pretty much does the trick.

Last play through i had a Monk with Throw, Auto Potion, Two Swords, and Teleport. I equipped him with the power sleeve and a bracer and it made him just insane.

Or another favorite a Ninja with Draw out, MP Switch, Secret Hunt, and Move MP UP. I love the MP Switch/Move MP up combo.

Female Priest with Draw Out, Critical Quick, Magic Attack Up, and Move+2 set wearing Mace of Zeus, Robe of Lords, Thief Hat, and Setiemson. MA comes out at 16 at level 62, effectively being 20 after magic attack up which allows for 320 damage Kikuichimonji and 360 damage Muramasa, neither of which hit allies in their area effect. Speed comes to 13 at level 69, making turns come up ever 4 ticks due to auto haste on Setiemson. Auto shell/protect on Robe of Lords cuts damage quite a bit. Critical Quick gives a free turn anytime healing is needed, most likely in the form of Murasame for an instant 240 healing. The Priest skillset ist pretty much useless, but Priest is the only fast class that gets decent MA, which is needed to power Draw Out. Nearly indestructible and wipes out enemies quite rapidly, while using a skillset that doesn’t require faith (which can be safely lowered to 3 for this, negating White/Black/Time/Summon/YinYang magic for the most part).

The Single Minded Summoner:
I focused entirely on Summoner for a while for Ramza. When the time came to fight Veselius the Warlock I killed him in one summon attack after my time got there.

Last time I fought Velius he didn’t even damage any of my characters. Ramza did one attack, then my ninja, then Velius began to cast a summon, and then Ramza got his turn again and finished him off. I was speechless.

And no, I did not spam yell. I used yell twice during the first part of the fight.
