Someone explain to me the finer details of the monster/darkworld thing. There’s a relation to that and getting stronger items, I know that, but can someone elaborate on that a bit?
Plus how can I kill those boxes without doing less thatn 5 points of damage?
Monster/Dark World thing? You mean item fusion? Or something else?
As for boxes…they’re damn hard to kill, so try having all your fighter characters gang up on it and have your mages use spells that the box is weak against. Where are you in the game, by the way?
I’m right at the end. I gotta slip past everything to get to the last chamber. I lost Homard It would’ve been the last spot before the Homard/umm… big ugly demon event that I wanted the help on, but I just slipped right by them. Can you believe they’re more interested in jacking each other up than going after poor little Papillion?
Anyway, yeah, I guess that’s the item fusion I’m talking about. Where you send a monster off to the darkworld with items equipped, get one item and lose them for good. How can I gain anything from that? Just buy really expensive items, level them up and hope to get one stronger item? How does that work?
The higher the item level is, the more attributes it can carry over to the combined item. The item in the top slot of the equipment list will be the item carried over. Say you have a Muscle Glove with 2 ATK and 1 DEF, level… 5. And you have a Beginners Mace with Int of 2 and a Res of 1 and an elemental attribue of Blue 2 of level… 4. Combine those, you’ll probably get a Muscle Glove of 2 ATK 1 DEF and either the stat increases or the elemental properties of the Mace. The higher level the items are, the better it gets. Oh, you have to put the higher level item on top to make it more efficient. Otherwise, it can turn lopsided.
ALSO! When you splice items, most of the time, the overall statistics, not the “gaining stats” can and will decrease a bit, so keep this in mind.
Oh, and weak items you get at the beginning are useless. Don’t bother with them unless they have a high attribute stat gain or a high elemental property you want.
Otherwise, keep on grabbing enemy monsters left and right for your sacrifices. Happy splicing! (and happy time wasting.)
Also, the best place to level up items is in the first dungeon, the place where you can easliy trigger that humongous miricale. To boost it even further, try to get dark portals WITHIN the miracle, so that way after the miracle is triggered, those will go off right afterwards and add to your bonus like crazy-stupid-retarded mad. Just don’t forget that you can easily alter the flow of dark portals without wasting items/character turns sometimes.
When splicing items, the overall stats can be no higher than the monster you sent over. So, generally, you’ll want to send over Items that are level 10 or higher while using a really strong monster with high stats.
The best way to kill the boxes is to repeatedly cast Braveheart on one character. They’ll usually be able to destroy the boxes after 5 or so castings. It helps if you place weapons in all their slots when you do this to maximize the increase.
