Can it also be called trolling if you reply to the post “This is old” or some variant thereof? Like I’ve noticed that a lot of the threads that I read are new stuff to me but then somebody usually writes, “this is old” and leaves it there. That would make me feel stupid if that was the only reply that I got to a thread I made.
We’ve discussed having an introductory board. As of now though we haven’t found it worthwhile enough.

Yeah, its either that or spam. Either way, not good. :\
also guys bear in mind that often new users to our forums are relatively young, such as early teenagers and such. Thus, they haven’t quite hit the jaded late-teen/early-twenties years like many of us. So, try to be a bit friendlier to them, and perhaps in time they’ll become as sophistically pessimistic as you one day!

Actually, I’ve been getting quite optimistic as of late, much moreso then when I was in my early teens.
I’m generally more apathetic than pessimistic.
But I do think it’s worthwhile, Merl. People bitch about newbs and how their threads get old. I honestly don’t think it’d be too much trouble or annoyance to have it there. Just put a mod there who’d do it (doesn’t have to be an existing one. Like I said earlier, I’d do it but Hell hasn’t froze over yet :P).
I really think it’d help. People generally will see the Intro forum first or second and will have enough brainpower to post there with a “Hi” thread. If you don’t think that’ll work, isn’t there a way so it sends a PM when they sign up telling them about the Intro forum?

They’re there to let everyone here know that you are one of us now, to say hi. Constricting that to a forum will be stupid, since I doubt a lot of people will WANT to browse/reply to those threads, and considering how welcome threads usually go, it would just devolve into another ToB.

And plenty of people are interested and say hi to the newbs. It’s like the Happy Birthday thread. Some people post in it, some don’t. Unlike the HB thread, some people dislike Hi threads and stuff. So the boards would probably have a little less hate in 'em.
Nah, people only post in the HB thread because it’s stickied and in the main forum. Creating a newbie forum is pretty pointless.
