In about a month...

I won’t be posting much. I’m getting called up around then and I’ll be too busy. I’m going over as infantry (Oorah!). It is sort of neat, we got a bunch of new gear and brand new weapons (We had the M16A2, not we have the M16A4) this weekend. Next month we’re just gonna be doing all the things that infantry does. We’re pretty much forgetting our primary jobs and doing all infantry stuff(since every Marine is a rifleman, every Marine is ready for infantry). I’m gonna be tired as fuck though and my new platoon is pretty hard core. We run a lot (and this was just a weekend) and we’re gonna be doing lots of hand to hand combat training (not all of it sanctioned). It is sort of cool though. So yeah, that is pretty much it for now. This deployment is definitely a go.

Stay alive.

Does the military favour a particular matrial art for hand-to-hand combat or is it just a series of moves put together to help defend yourself?

Edit: Take care of yourself out there.

Be safe!! We will miss you!

Piece out dood, hope you stay well

PRESS CIRCLE WHILE BEHIND AN ENEMY TO PUT THEM IN A HEADLOCK. THIS IS BASIC CQC.

Remember, Nick. Before you go into battle always hit Up down up down left right left right b a b a start.

Good luck.

Signed. Sounds like your new platoon’s gonna help with that.

What differentiates the M16A2 and M16A4, by the way? And what’s this unsanctioned h2h you guys’ll be practicing?

Every shitty post you’ve ever made has just been redeemed.

edit; ok maybe half

I’d say maybe a third.

Don’t forget to also carry a knife all the time. Make sure to have it unsheathed too, so you can run faster.

And worry about splash damage.

Once was enough.

Edit: Oh my god, it’s Luna :open_mouth:

The A4 is about 2 or 3 pounds heavier, the hand guards are metal and a different shape, the iron sights come off easily and can be replaces with other things, sections of the hand guards can come off at parts to be able to attach things and keep the hand guards on, the ranges are a little different, and the rear sight elevation is a little different.

The unsanctioned bit just means that it isn’t part of the actual training, we’re doing it on our own time and just getting taughts things that have been picked up over the years and from personal experiences.

Each branch is different. Like right now the Marine Corps has its own martial arts program which takes things from a bunch of different styles.

Good luck man.

God Bless

Don’t die.

Welcome to the fight as a real man, not some non infantry wussy :stuck_out_tongue: For real though, watch out for IED’s, they really REALLY suck, and keep your head on your shoulders. Don’t get that notorious Marine line of thought “Ten feet tall and bulletproof”.

We’re not going to Iraq, we’re going to Africa to fight the war on terror (we’ll be near, but not in, countries like Somalia and Yemen). So IEDs aren’t much of a threat (we still look out for them and EOD still blows up suspected IEDs). It is sort of funny hearing you talk about our mentality since we always rag on your guys tactics and shit (don’t you just love competition).

IEDs? EODs?

Kick ass and chew bubble gum. But don’t forget the gum, because gum is good.

Also… I sincerely mean this. Be safe. War is a terrible thing, you’ll be in our prayers.

IED- Improvised Explosive Device
EOD - Explosive Ordinance Disposale
