I want to know what Anime You Guys Like And Tell me Why you like it so much
Sure thing, but I bet there’s another topic about this somewhere.
Saber Marionette J. My absolute favorite anime. Ever. It starts off seeming like a Tenchi Muyo clone, but it soon breaks off to form a very unique and beautiful story. From the moment they’re awakened, Lime, Cherry, and Bloodberry, (Otaru’s ‘marionettes’ (androids in the form of women)) I’ve loved them. Each of them is so perfect, so beautiful, that it just captures me. Lime’s innocence, Cherry’s kindness, Bloodberry’s strength, each of them, I love, for so many reasons.
There is only one word that can properly describe the series. Perfect. As some of you may know already, this series holds a special place in my heart that nothing else will ever occupy. It is very special to me for many reasons.
Saber Marionette J was the first anime series I watched and recognized as anime. I had seen others, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Galaxy Express 999, but, I hadn’t realized they were anime until after I had found this gem.
No other series touched my heart the way Saber Marionette J did. When I saw the ending, I honestly cried. By that time, I had already fallen in love with those three angels, Lime, Cherry, and Bloodberry. Because of this, I was heartbroken to see them go on their suicide mission to save all of Terra II.
After I had gotten over the pain of the ending, I watched it again. It had just as strong, if not a greater effect on me than the first time. Soon after, I recieved Saber Marionette J Again and J to X. I was so happy to be able to see more of them, that I watched them immediately. While J Again was a bit on the fluffy side, I enjoyed it nonetheless.
As for J to X, I never expected any of it. The first part with Evil Faust, the second half in Xi’an, none of it.
When the girls lost their memories, I remember fierce hatred for Hess, and Yan Min, for what they did. Then sadness. I was on the verge of tears through most of the second half. When they left on their second suicide mission, one they could not return from, I… I was so depressed. I could barely concentrate on anything else. Again I cried.
Anyway, after watching the whole thing several times, I started thinking. Most of the series had us asking, who would Otaru choose? Which of the three would he have as his bride? I asked myself, who would I choose? Eventually, I came up with an answer: Cherry. I realized that she was, in fact, the one for me. I love everything about her. Her kindness, her sincerity, her intelligence, personality, everything.
At the beginning, I used a point system to rank anime. Saber Marionette was first with about 800 points, Slayers second with about 300, and so on. After a while, I had to stop using that system, because Saber Marionette J had inexplicably risen to 6,000,000 or more!
Anyway, my throat… er, fingers hurt from typing this much, so I’ll cut off my singing… er, typing the praises of Saber Marionette J here. I’m sure you’re all sick of listening to me.
Full Metal Alchemist. Just a kickass story, about Alchemy and crap.
Hellsing. A vampire hunter who is a vampire himself, and he’s got two huge guns.
Bleach. A good mix of comedy, and a serious story.
Gundam Seed & Seed Destiny. Cool Robots, some cool characters, and a pretty solid story.
Samurai Champloo. Hip Hop music and samurais go really well together. No, really.
R.O.D. The T.V.
It manages to mix everything together perfectly. There are some episodes that are funny, emotional, have lots of action, and there are some that make you think. The cast of characters is diverse and their interactions with each other make the show interesting.
Full Metal Alchemist:Good story, good characters, good animation, some humour mixed in with all of that.
Bleach: See above
Gundam SEED Destiny: Completely different from the first series in that all of the previously whiney characters from the first series have grown up into badasses. Kira especially.
I guess I like Kenshin from ‘Rurouni Kenshin’.Hes a very nice and morally raised guy (we dont have much of that here)he’s also a bad-ass
umm…that guy in ‘gundem SEED’ uh …Kira, hes cool.
Edward in ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’, hes funny
And an old favourite,Inuyasha, just because hes skitzofranic.
thats it for now, cant think of any more
Kira is a really cool now, but I can’t get myself to like Shinn Asuka. He’s too angry.
Crest of the Stars
It’s a scif-fi space drama. The story goes that one day a certain planet is threatened by an invasion of the Abh, a race of genetically-engineered humanoids (who basically look like space-elves) originally created to serve mankind who later rebelled and established themselves as an independent race. Rather than fight against the empire, the president of the planet surrenders on the terms that he be made into Abh nobility, despite being human. The anime follows his son as years later as a seventeen year-old he journeys to the Abh capital for further education. There’s action in the series, but the remarkable aspect of the series in my opinion is the dialogue. It avoids the usual pitfalls of most shows (repetition, needless exposition, overstatement of the obvious, and so on), and whatever company translated did a damn good job. I watched the series with subtitles, and whatever you think of the story, the dialogue itself makes for stunningly good prose. There’s something sublime about the anime, and a good part of that comes from the dialogue and narration.

Yeah. Lots more to. I love my anime. XD
FMA was already mentioned, so…
Elfen Lied-a brilliant mix of nightmarish disturbing horror, and cute unalamring comedy. It needs to be seen to be believed.
Slayers-Typical fantasy fair containing one of the greatest cast of characters in anime history.
Azumanga Daioh-A slice of life comedy again, featuring one of the best cast of characters in an anime.
This is kind of a given on any must-watch anime list, but it must be said: Neon Genesis Evangelion.
And you can’t go wrong with anything Miyazaki or Tezuka. <3 Astro Boy
As for why I like them, Eva because it thoroughly explores the questions it poses, unlike other platitudinous “dramas” claiming to be “deep,” like Noir which I passionately despise save the music. Miya and Tezuka because I love the lighthearted stories, blood-pumping action, fluid animation, and the adorable couples (San/Ashitaka, Ken-Ichi/Tima, Pazu/Sheeta, Haku/Chihiro. Come to think of it, San’s essentially a wolf, Tima’s an android, and Haku’s a mutating dragon river magician. M&T created some truly bizarre couples x.X;;;).
Trigun is a favorite anime of mine. Coybow Bebop is also good. I know a lot of people didn’t like it simply because it has raving fanboys (sort of like FFVII -_-) but I found it very moving. Rurouni Kenshin is good too, though I don’t watch it regularly. InuYasha is what I would call a popcorn anime. You sort of sit back and don’t think too much. Neon Genesis Evangelion is very good, and Hellsing was fun to watch.
Moviewise, I’d have to say that the Ghost in the Shell movies were very good, and Samurai X was a great interpretation of Kenshin’s past.
I’d still put Cagalli on the whiny side because of her actions toward Orb joining the Earth Alliance. I like Kira’s character a lot better now, but the whole Freedom>all is getting a bit old.
Haibane Renmei: No big action scenes or fanservice and a bit slow, but a nice little series that really made me feel for the characters in the show.
ROD OVA: A fun main protagonist with a rather creative power along with a good story and action scenes.
Chrno Crusade: The nuns with guns concept was a big plus. The characters and story were pretty good. There seemed to be some unfullfiled potential but still worth watching.
Your brain is stupid, Gamer. Talking about HR without mentioning the absolutely BRILLIANT music is a sin.
Air
I haven’t finished watching FMA, but I love that one.
Blue Seed-a romantic anime with parts that I can make fun of even though they’re not intentionally funny. Plus the little song that plays at the end has always been a favorite of mine. Turns out I actually like romance, mix in a bit of the average love triangle and I’ll become obsessed with any series.
