I hate Photoshop

Can any of you 1337 PS wizards help me out here? I added a Drop Shadow effect to a layer with some text in it (the text that says “Night Powell”), then I had to do some moving around of the text. The copy-pasting wasn’t working right for some reason (it kept pasting old data from the clipboard), so I deleted the layer and started over. Now I did the EXACT SAME THING, but as you can see in the picture, the effect is grayed out. It’s not disabled, I checked. It just won’t show up. And I’m extremely pissed off about this. Can anyone help?

I usually restart my 'puter if Photoshop starts acting funky.

Did you check the layer settings for the drop shadow? Depending on what colors you use with what settings, the shadow may not show up. Beyond that, I dunno what to prob could be.
