The book helps to make your own fictional worlds so it rocks.
ive read all of them and the silmarillion is long and at times its boring but like somebody said here its more of a history. it builds middle earth into a believable world with history and religion and all that junk that most people dont care about. the silmarillion makes the Trilogy one of the most well backed stories i have ever read even if its not the best.
