I’m fine with them doing a sequel to FFX considering that ending, it was screaming for some explanation. But if they do sequels to the classics, I’m gonna scream.

Personally, I loved the soundtrack. And I’m pretty excited about the game. It might actually be a good RPG… if not, at least it’s got enough Rikku to make my nose bleed. So it’s a win-win situation.

IMO, if Squenix (SQUEEE! Sorry, but I can’t help thinking it) have their heads on straight, it might actually be half-decent. The Job System from FFV was cool then, and it looks cool now. Just more girly. I’ll reserve judgement until it’s released.

Plus, you know us in the US and UK are going to get the same old ‘logo-on-white-background’ cover we always do, while the Japanese gets the cover that they actually took time over.:thud:

You know what else makes X-2 look promising, despite the “new and improved” Yuna? The way the game plays out. It’s not really a linear Point A to Point B RPG anymore! It’s mission based, and you fly around the world to take on different missions and beat the game your own little way, while experimenting with the JOB SYSTEM!
Sounds like Valkyrie Profile meets FF5 meets ugh Crossroads, but I think it’s worth a play. 8)

Blaring J-pop, meh. WHat did you you really expect when the intro sequence is a glorified pop song?

Ugh, I’m really double-sided on this game. The gameplay sounds fucking amazing, the job system is back, the battles resemble a 3D Chrono Trigger, only 3 characters… it sounds like the best game in the world, plus that review made me think of something; You don’t usually see the world in the FF games after you save them… It would be interesting to see how the world turned out.
However, the actual story and the characters, well… to be honest it seems pretty girly to me. And if the music really is J-pop… well that just sucks, cause J-pop is one of the worst types of music ever (it’s just copying the garbage in America… when you copy garbage, you tend to get even more garbage).
I’ll probably rent the game, and actually give it a shot, it might be a really good game. But I won’t count on it…

Maybe now that they’ve done as X sequel they’ll seriously think about a sequel to other ones.
If they make sequels to any of the classics I swear there will be blood… then again, would be funny if they made one of FFVII just to stomp on all the Aeris Resurrection fics…
As for PAL release, RPGFan claims that it’s tentatively scheduled to show up here later this year, but we’ll have yet to see that. I’d rather guess for spring '04.
Why Weiila? Wouldn’t be nice for them to make a sequel for FF7 then NOT fuck it up?
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I DO NOT want to see sequels to classics, but it would be fun if it featured Cloud married to Tifa or something just to spite all the thousands who have written no-sense ARF (Aeris Resurrection Fics).
