Baseball tourney marred by lecherous lensmen
Yomiuri Shimbun
KOBE–Police and high school officials in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, say they have been unable to stop spectators from taking intrusive photographs of cheerleaders at the national high school baseball invitational tournament using small digital cameras.
“People can easily take pictures and then erase them, leaving no evidence,” Koshien Police Station said.
Because of this problem, some cheerleader squads from schools participating in the tournament at Koshien Stadium have come up with their own ways of dealing with the problem.
The police admonished 13 individuals whom they found ogling the cheerleaders instead of watching the games. Three of the spectators were spotted by the police as they were about to take photos of the cheerleaders using tiny digital cameras, such as those commonly found on cell phones. The police made the three people sign written oaths that they would not do it again. Most of the remaining 10 individuals also had similar cameras, the police said.
