Help me out people: Has anyone played The Sims 2 in the PS2?

Just to be clear, I’m talking about “The Sims 2”, not “Bustin’ Out”, “Urbz” or whatever else is out. Ever since this game came out I’ve been cursing my dinosaur computer for not being able to play it, so I nearly orgasmed when I saw this was available for a console.

The question: How does it compare to the PC version? I’ve had horrible experiences with PC-to-Console ports mostly related to awkward controls and other minor trinkets. Since I still cry in my sleep every time I remember playing Command & Conquer on N64, I want to make sure this is worth the time.

So?

My dad says its better on the PS2. I dont like playing sims. My dad likes plays a butt load more of games than i do.

If it anything like Busting Out, it will have a fun single player story mode, where you have objectives for houses that you are currently living in. For example, in Busting Out, you lived in gym, where you have to throw a party and then talk to four people at the party in order to elist them to join. But the Sims freemode suffers on the console, as it usually has only one floor and a limit on objects (since it saved on a memory card). But to make it up, it tends to have some fun items, which the ones from Busting Out got ported to Sims 2.

I haven’t played the second one, but I’ve played the original on PC (plus expansions) and GC and I’ve played Bustin’ Out and the game works fairly well on the consoles. The consoles are a little bit better since they have a story sort of mode to unlock things to buy in the regular Sims game (like on the PC), which is nice. The biggest difference though is that the PC version has more items and you can build more elaborate houses. The console version is no slouch and if you can’t run the PC version, the console versions a a viable alternative and are a bit stronger in some ways (like the story mode).

Good enough, but I have another problem: I hate having to work for cash, It’s just not the part of the game I’m interested in. Are there any cheats like in the PC version? Cheats that preferably don’t involve GameShark or anything else I may have to buy separately?

Well they usually have cash cheats in each Sims game. Busting Out had the directional code you did in the buy menu that summons a land gnome who gives out cash if you touch it. In the PC version, typing rosebud in the original will give you a 1000 each time. Even still, some of the best items will be locked at first.

And bad news, I was reading about the console version, and it has no kids or second floor in the house. Only adults, who never age, but still have aspirations and fears.
