Having problems with Media Player

Grah, so I’ve borrowed a number of episodes of an anime from a friend and I’m trying to play them on my computer. Unfortunately Media Player can’t seem to find the visual portion of the files, although the sound is all there. I have no idea what’s wrong, so I might even be missing the obvious solution. The file type listed for the episodes is just listed as “video file” if that matters.

Maybe you need a Divx player? for like its using codecs or something, i have no idea. Or try winamp player.
What anime? :moogle:

Get Backers. I know the files will run on Media Player, because I’ve seen a few of them already. I get a little message about error downloading codecs before it starts playing (the intro music).

Check http://www.windowsupdate.com if you’re using windows of course. Maybe you just need to update the windows media player? Sorry if you’ve checked that all ready.

You’re missing the right codecs. Install <a href=“http://hellninjacommando.com/defilerpak”>The Defilerpak</a>, that should fix your problems.

While you’re at it, install a real media player, like <a href=“http://www.bsplayer.com”>BSPlayer</a> or <a href=“http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli”>Media Player Classic</a>.
