Have you ever... (follow up to "drowned in games" thread)

Had so many games to play that when you can get around to them you can’t commit to any one of them and thus just don’t play any at all? That’s where I’m at right now. It blows.

Not really, since I’m a one-game-at-a-time kinda guy. On the other hand, I don’t stop until I’ve found or done EVERYTHING in the game, and regularly clock up to 100 hours in most RPGs. :stuck_out_tongue:

Usually what happens to me in that situation is that I’ll play a few of the games, but ended up abandoning them until a long time later. I have this particular nasty habit playing through some games where I’d get all the way to the end, but never beat the game. A lot of it was because I’d be distracted by something else. It’s why it took me months to beat DQ V and VI on SNES, because I’d lose interest or get distracted.

Just recently had this happen with Advance Wars: Dual Strike, since I was playing it and better stuff came out after getting into it a little bit.

(Edit: 500th post! Woo!)

All the time. That’s why I have so many unfinished games in my backlog.

I do the same thing!

Right now I’m in the middle of so many different games… ugh…

Yes.

I have way too many games that I haven’t beaten. Yet I keep buying more… all in the hopes that one day I’ll have enough spare time to play them all. Even then, I’d probably end up spending that time playing guitar or bass.

Same.

Nowandays I just youtube up plot advances and story-modes rather than play most games, unless I really really REALLY want to be drawn into the action and gameplay.

Like Phoenix Wright and Twilight Princess.

This happens to me when I hunt for new SNES games, I get whatever sounds cool and when i like more than 4 i can never decide which to play.

Yup.

I think I’m in the middle of:

Chrono Trigger DS
Advance Wars (don’t remember which in the sries)
New Super Mario Bros.
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Castlevania ( the first in the DS series)
The World Ends With You
FF 4 DS
Assasin’s Creed
Ninja Gaiden 2
Ninjatown

To paraphrase a guy from a children’s book, “one game at a time”.

Easier said…

Yes. I used to stick with games when they were rarer to come by.

And I have a job.

I do this all the time!
I usually get far into the game before I quit too, like Shadow Moses in MGS4 or The Pharos in FFXII. I also have yet to even FINISH a single campaign in either Medieval 2:TW or CivIV. I always end up just starting over from the beginning when I do eventually get the urge to pick them up and play.

Hmm… Considering I tend to play some games for a while, and then leave them for a month before picking them up again when the mood strikes me, I have a lot of games that I’m “currently playing”.

Right now, my list of games that I’m more or less playing is:

Still stuck in Aquaria, so I don’t play it that much, but I play.

Trying to fix some graphic bugs so I can seriously play UFO: Afterlight and in the meantime I’m playing UFO: Aftermath and the original X-Com.

World of Warcraft. Yeah. 'Nuff said about that.

Tales of Monkey Island, and I’m poking at the remake of the original a bit. I kinda dislike the new animations, but apparently I can’t have the voices, which I do like, if I run the “old version”. :frowning:

Team Fortress 2. A few quick games every now and then.

Dominions 3 or Audiosurf when friends come over.

Still working on planning a massive superfortress in Dwarf Fortress. And by Massive Superfortress I mean it will be a Mega Construction that may very well lead to incredible amounts of fun, as I’ll have to restart the entire fortress if I make one mistake in either the planning or the digging.

Kana Little Sister. “No matter how tough you think you are. You WILL cry.”

Got a save in Mount & Blade where I’m planning to start my own kingdom eventually. Too bad you can only become “rebels”, and never actually eliminate/take over a faction.

Overlord 2. Ehh… Since I saw a friend play through 90% of the game, and it’s pretty much the same as the first game I’m not that into it. But again, I play it a bit every now and then.

Spelunky. Wonderful little indie game that can be summed up as “Indiana Jones in a platformer Nethack”.

Trine. Basically Little Big Planet meets The Lost Vikings, without the charm of the first game and the humor of the second.

Have started up a new game Ys: Oath in Felghana (which is a remake of Ys 3) because I wanted to check a few things, also playing Ys: The Ark of Napishtim. But, again, seen a(nother) friend play through most of it.

Also gonna start up Ys I & II Eternal, most likely. Or Ys II at least, since I’ve seen the abovementioned friend play through the entire first game.

…Yeah, I think that’s all of them. I can’t be arsed to go through my DOSBox folder or console games to list those as well.
