Because last time I checked some years back only Romancing Saga 3 was translated and that is supposed to be the weakest of the three.
I’m pretty sure Squeenix localized Romancing SaGa 1 about a decade ago (and honestly, there’s little reason to go back to the incomplete Super Famicom version), and I know that AGTP is currently (as of this last October) working on hacking and inserting the translation into Romancing SaGa 2 without causing the game to bug out.
So we’re almost there.
Thanks. I have the PS2 Romancing Saga (RS1) Remake. I have RS3, which I never played. I’ve just heard it’s not very good. Do you agree with this evaluation? Which is considered the best in the series? Also any other Saga games out there that were previously not translated that are now translated?
Final Fantasy 2 got localized with the Final Fantasy Origins port on the original Playstation, and unless you count those SaGa Legend 2 and 3 DS remakes (which I heard were kinda underwhelming somehow) and Legend 1’s Wonderswan Color remake, that’s all the non-Romancing ones that we initially missed (oh yeah, and Emperor’s SaGa which was a TCG (Trading Card Game) released on Japanese mobile phones/devices alongside other TCGs like Circle of Mana and pretty much every old school JRPG series still around that isn’t Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy/Tales of Insert Name Here; either way, I hardly think its going to ever get translated short of an official localization though).
Unfortunately, I’ve been having trouble keeping up with the series due to one reason or another. So far I’ve played The Final Fantasy Legend, Final Fantasy Legend 2, Final Fantasy Legend 3, Romancing SaGa (PS2 remake), and SaGa Frontier 2. Of those, I’ve only beaten SaGa Legend 1 and Legend 3 (and Final Fantasy 2 if you count it since it kinda functions like a predecessor to the SaGa series). I’ve yet to get around to Romancing SaGas 2 & 3 (due to being bad at emulating), SaGa Frontier 1 (due to not being able to scrounge up a Memory Card somehow since that game eats up pretty much an entire one to do all of its scenarios), Unlimited SaGa (due to sounding like an incomprehensible clusterfuck, even by SaGa’s standards) and The Last Remnant (I keep hoping to win it in a quiz game but the damn thing seems to have discontinued). I have been keeping an eye on Legend of Legacy though in hopes of jumping on this one before I pass it up, try to come back to it later on, and find some excuse to not complete it.
My current favs out of the ones I’ve beaten is Final Fantasy Legend 1 (3 is a bit too not-SaGa-ish), but 2 is definitely the best SaGa Legend game (and the only reason I haven’t finished it yet is because I went through the bonus dungeon too early and now I can’t convince myself to go through the final two worlds while using up all my sweet loot; damn my hoarder tendencies!) and I really liked what I’ve played of Romancing SaGa (there was a bug I ran into early on that kinda stalled my progress and killed most of my interest in playing it) and SaGa Frontier 2 (I rented this back when it came out but I haven’t been able to work my way back into it since its been well over a decade since I last played it).
I’ve only beaten Saga Frontier 2. It’s linear compared to some of the other games, but enjoyable regardless. It’s also very challenging. The last boss (the Egg) is still one of the toughest bosses I’ve ever encountered.
There is a series of videos on youtube that explain the mechanics of Unlimited Saga well. I have this game and would like to tackle it some day. I think if you understand the way the game works it can be somewhat enjoyable.
