It’s like a TBS game, when you own half the map and things get REALLY boring because you have to micromanage every one of your cities. You have to click on Britian, and build something, and make sure it has enough money, and make sure the peasants are happy; then you have to go to Africa and do it again, then to India and do it AGAIN.
Anyone would get sick of that.

I think the English just got lazy. Kind of like in Civilization when you set all your cities to autogovern and wander afk for a few decades to build up wealth.
And why would you want to marry a Canadian? They’re nothing but trouble with their beady little eyes and flapping heads.
