Has anyone played the Turbo Grafx RPG's Neutopia & Neutopia 2?

i am curious if anyone has a Turbo Grafx 16 machine like me and has played the 2 RPG’S for the system which are Neutopia and Neutopia 2- They are action RPG’S and truthfully are obvious Zelda type game copy cats-i think these 2 games qualify as RPG classics - they are sure old enough to be classics!-I would just like to know if anyone else here has played them.

I was going to play them once, but I never got around to it.

I probably will some day.

I think they’re freaking awesome, and previously suggested they be added to the database, despite the fact that I personally don’t believe that Zelda is an RPG. I was responded to by being told that, while Zelda is somehow an RPG, games that play like it aren’t. I disagree, I believe that Zelda and games like it are not RPGs, but if we include some, we should include all.

Regardless, they’re awesome games, and anyone with a TG-16, PCE, or Duo should check them out. I haven’t thought about them in a long time, and I think I’m going to play some Neutopia right now, now that you’ve reminded me.

The whole TG-16 section of the database is in absolute shambles. There are like… 4 RPGs listed, and of those, three are ports and one is some weird Japanese game nobody’s ever heard of. =P

I actually remember a couple years ago consciously telling myself to add the Neutopia games, but I guess I never did.

Who told you that Sat? Was it Cid? Probably, since he has a similar disclaimer in the Join Page. I’ve been meaning to edit that out, since that’s not my philosophy at all.

EDIT: Alright, they’ve been added to the Database, and that statement in the Join Page has been eliminated. Hurray!

I believe it was through staff discussion, I can’t recall who, so I won’t point fingers or name names. I hold no ill-will toward anyone here, of course, because I’m Mr. Saturn, I have no animosity to give.

Also, I think we should merge the TG16 and Duo sections, as all Duo games can be played on a TG16 (and it makes their sections look bigger).

I would have remembered if it was through a staff discussion.

Gameboy Advances can play Gameboy games, but those sections aren’t merged. Also, your input is a major reason why the NEC sections were organized the way they are now. o_O

Plus, the individual sections will look big enough if the database team ever gets reassembled and actually starts doing work…

Was it? Yeah, that sounds like something I’d say. Upon reconsideration, it really does make the most sense to have them seperate, but we have to be careful where the seperation comes into play. Turbo CD games, while playable on Duo, aren’t made for Duo, but also won’t play on an out-of-the-box TG16. I think maybe we should rename the “Duo” section to just “Turbo CD” or “Turbo CD and Duo.”

Come to think of it, perhaps this discussion should go in a staff forum.

It was, I even remember your replies to the thread :stuck_out_tongue:

I remember tons of whiny threads about what is or isn’t an RPG, but I’m pretty sure Neutopia was never mentioned.

And as it’s organized now, I think it’s supposed to include Turbo CD and Duo games, but it’s just called “Turbo Duo”. Of course, nobody outside of Mr. Saturn even knows what any of that means, so… yeah. =P
