It has piqued my interest in Half Life 1. Can someone give me a non spoiler gist of how Half Life 1 works in terms of Half Life 2? Oh and I love Lamar. Lamar is SO COOL 
hmm, thats hard because Half-Life 2 is so amazingly different. Well some of the guns are the same, no gravity gun. They have the headcrabs, zombies, and vertigons (the good guy aliens, but they wereānt good in the first one). The physics engine is also completely different. The style of gameplay is def the same. Idunno if that helped, its just kinda hard to compare the two >_>
Story-wise, you will hear a lot about black mesa in HL2. Black mesa was the scenario in HL1, and this might be a spoiler, though if you want to know how HL1 relates to HL2 without playing it, check it out;
when the first teleporters were made and the dimensional gate that brought the aliens you see in HL2 was opened.
Oh, if you got the silver package of HL2, you should have access to both the original and the source version of the original over steam.

So now that this has been out for a while and the hype has died downā¦Is it worth it? Is it actually a full solid game or is it just a few gimmicks that get boring quickly?

And while I havenāt been THAT far into HL2 yet, I have enjoyed playing it greatly up to now. It doesnāt have the graphical prowess of Doom 3 (as soon as my laptop gets back Iāll test if it can run high on HL2 again like it runs high on doom 3), but I am very impressed by the game.Very. Just the freedom to do what you want in the world is interesting. It made me notice how narrow minded we are about how we use things in games. Thereās just something so cool about throwing shit at peoplesā heads, for example. The voice acting is excellent and the script is neat up to where I am at.

talk to me on AIM Sinistral. Also as an aside, Iāve found HL2 to be quite a big step ahead of Doom3 graphically, which is amazing considering how advanced Doom3 is. HL2 is simply the greatest game made. Every aspect of a good game is handled remarkably well, and Iāve only played a few hours into it. From now on the history of gaming is going to be marked by greater and greater <i>possibility</i>. Even if a lot of it is just throwing bottles at peopleās heads 
I really want to buy this, Half Life 2 looks awesome, and Counter Strike: Source looks amazing for sweet ass multiplayer action.
HL-2 Deathmatch is out. Throwing toilets at people is alot of fun.
I canāt wait to play that once I do the single player.

I just gto HL2 (it works almost perfectly on my laptop! Take that Doom 3!) and itās uttertly amazing. I just cleared Ravenholm and Iām on Highway 17. How far am I through the game? I donāt want it to ever end.
When it does end, you still got CS:Source and Deathmatch. And soon there will be alot of cool mods.
Source was meant to be modded. After the incredible success of HL1ās mods (including COunter Strike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress classic, and many many more, for those not in the know) it only seemed appropriate to offer the same modding atmosphere, if not better for HL2. If CS:S and DM get tiring, something else will come along.
Iām waiting for TFC:Source. TFC robbed me of the ages 12-15, and I wish to be robbed of more.
Anyway, I got HL2, and sweet god, itās so fun. The first thing I did when I got off the train was throw a suitcase at a guard, not knowing I could do that - it was fun lol.
man this game rules! Iām not even that far into it and it has amazed me already. Thereās so many things you can do in the game, its fuckin nuts. And yeah, Sin, Lamar is awesome.

The Gravity gun rocks, especially when those electric roller mines start locking in on you during the Highway 17 levelā¦you can pick them up with it and shoot it at a soldier, or over a cliff. Shooting the Gravity gun also comes in handy when your dune buggy rolls over (which it does so often.)
And yesā¦throwing things like milk cartons, tables, folding chairs, etc. at people is hella fun.
