Hair Question

Idk who Rachmaninoff is, but I know a hell of a lot about hair dye.

A Russian composer and pianist, noted for his technical proficiency and intricate, almost encyclopedic knowledge of hair dye long before it was fashionable.

From the birth and death dates I saw, the information and techniques he’d have would be a lil’ outdated for this thread

Yeah. He used the blood of inferior musicians. He squeezed it out of them with his enormous hands.

Yeah, I wouldn’t recommend that kind of technique for this guy. Blood dye can get so brassy, it just wouldn’t look very good…

Then he is a criminal in a way. Good. I was skeptical about someone who looks like that being JUST a pianist.

All I know is that Rachmaninov had big hands

This is about accusing, not being fair. It’s great that we have these tapes though. I pretty much dig romantics -lot of his stuff too-, but Chopin seems restrained compared to Rach.

As for the hair, he should crush red leaves (and his enemies, optionally) and spray the mix on his hair.

Instead of using bleach, use lemon juice. It saves a lot of $ and gives the exact same result.

Lemon juice doesn’t do shit. If you’re a dark blonde in the middle of summer, yeah, you can get some hilight action from it.

I don’t care what home remedies you people have heard- there is no way this guy is getting his hair the color red without shelling out at least $20= about 10 each for bleach and manic panic.

If you want to look like shit, go ahead and use lemon juice and kool aid.

Don’t worry, I wasn’t planning on using the lemon juice. :kissy:

I emailed a pal of mine and he recomended ManicPanic as well, so with two sources confirming it, that’s most likely what I’ll be using. I’m not sure if I’ll need to bleach my hair, but I might anyway just to be on the safe side. (I’m a semi-dark-blondie).

semi-dark blonde-
If you want RED like, red red not red-hair red, you need to bleach it.
do it right and use good conditioner after, and you won’t have to worry about the damage.
Make sure the manic panic is fresh or it doesnt take. hair color does expire. If its something your friend had rollin; around his room from last xmas, for example, it might not work well. The color will depend on the shade of your hair and the porosity of it.

Thanks. I think I’m just going to order off they’re website.

That’s probably best.
If you have the time and energy, processing with heat can make color show up better/more vubrant, but if you bleach it and use a generous amount of dye it should come out great either way.

Wow, I didn’t know your…pink hair…was so important to you.

I suppose every woman has her source of pride, be it a musical flair or gaudy cuticles.

What the fuck are you talking about? Have I claimed anything and said that I haven’t tested it?

And I am not defending my hair on the internet. There is a guy, that wants his hair the color red. I happen to know a lot about it. The fucking end.

I don’t think my hair is any gaudier than someone wearing colorful clothes or jewelry, or having tattoos . It makes me feel better about my appearance. As does any haircut, or color, that someone would choose to have.

If he doesn’t want to look like shit, he can’t use lemons and kool aid and expect to look good. You get what you pay for in life. And so he could look like shit, or do it my way and come out ok, or spend an assload of money at a salon to get it really red.

Edit- Whats the point in even posting if you can change them so responses don’t make sense?
There’s nothing wrong with helping someone. He was asking for help in achieving a specific hair color, and a rather difficult one to maintain. I was not defending my hair- I never claimed that it is fucking amazing or that I am supah-cool!( zomg!!!) because my hair is pink. But,I know what the fuck I am talking about.

Don’t worry, I didn’t notice the hypocrisy.

I second Manic Panic, and really all of Kasey’s advice on the subject. I went through a hair dying phase in high school and did things pretty much the same way she recommends.

I’ve had friends who tried to be cheap about it and use kool-aid, and other lazier/cheaper routes and it never works out half as well. It fades super fast, and generally makes your hair look like shit.
