Good lord!

They are still making it?!?!

Seriously, how can a game take that long to make?!?! Can’t they at least release a few screenshots already?!?!

Hey! I liked Daikatana. Reminded me vaguely of shadow warrior.

I think he means it better not be another Daikatana 2, which took ages to release. But yeah, this was kinda expected. Don’t have too high hopes for this game even if it takes a long time to develop :stuck_out_tongue:

I gave up on this a long time ago.

And as far as i know there was ONE Daikatana and it was SOOOO overhyped as John Romero’s next thing. THat game was one of the worst peices of shit to ever come out. Considering it took them almost 3 years - it was just plain crap. Daikatana two was annouced before daikatana but it still hasnt been released (And to my knowledge wont be).

About Daikatana, they never sold the game on N64 in North America, it was only available as a Blockbuster rental if I remember. I played the game while I was in Belgium during Summer 2000 and it wasn’t as bad as people make it look like. Sure the game was way overhyped but that happens with every damn game nowadays (ie: Dress-me-up-FX-2).

As for DNF, do you imagine how many times they had to rewrite the graphic engine? If I remember correctly, Direct X3 had just been released and 3dFX was the rage among gamers when they started working on DNF.

I was refering to the PC version. I wasnt even aware that there was a N64 version heh.

Perhaps it was better than PC but the PC game was by far the worst game I have ever played. I was reading “Masters Of Doom” at work today and me and a couple of guys started talking about Romero and Daikatana. 2 of them said it was the ONLY game they have EVER taken back after buying it because it was so crappy heh. I didn’t return it but I damn sure never went back to it.

It wasn’t just overhyped, it was built on a horribly outdated engine, and not very well either (started out with Doom 1 engine, then got ported to Quake 2, then released when the Quake 3 engine was out. Didn’t go very well.) The weapons were glitchy, the enemies were all basically the same, and you could basically see the horrible, horrible production process behind it.

I wouldn’t be surprised that the game’s delayed even further before 2005. Hell, I never expected to see it get this far.

Oh, and FFX-2 is a lot of fun if you give it a chance. I like it more than FFX.

I wish developers gave more stable release dates, however I don’t really want to rush them and end up with a crappy game. But I love doom, I still play the original Shareware Knee Deep in the Dead every so often.

As long as DOOM 3 doesnt go the route of DNF or Daikatana - I will be happy =)
