Would you mind going into a little more depth in that?
Okay, you’ve got a K:clubs:K, the other players have 10:diamonds:J, Q:heart:J, and A:heart:4. The dealer has 6. It’s the first hand of the shoe. What do you do?
Silly Mr. Saturn. Shoes don’t have hands!
First hand of the shoe? Well, if I were smart, I would’ve bet a little bit extra assuming this casino does like others and pays about 10:1 for a blackjack on the first hand of a new shoe.
That aside, I would split the kings. Now, since I would have two tens after splitting, I would be smart with my cards and probably not hit after the initial card given to me. The book says to assume the dealer has a 10 for the down card (unless you’re a cheater and a card counter), so I would then hope that he would have a 16 and bust.
That’s my strategy if I felt like going for the most money. If I felt like playing it safe and just taking almost a sure thing, I would stay.
