FF7

Hmm, nobody’s vouched for VI yet. Which is interesting considering how widely it is well-thought of.

Me, I like 'em all. (With particular fondness for VI, VIII, and Tactics) Except, interestingly enough, VII. I guess I never got all that into it. Probably because so many other people did.

Damn, I’m never going to get one of these. :stuck_out_tongue:

FF5 or FF9 or FF5 or FF9? I dunno…pick one.

Really, its hard to talk about best of it’s time, because frankly, I can’t remember the other stuff released at the same time.

I say ff7.

Can I change the topic?
I beat FFX yesterday. I didn’t really have a problem with the ending (I heard it sucked), except for the very last shot of Tidus. That was SCARY!!!:hyperven:

Final Fantasy IV. It helped spark my adoration of paladinhood.

Mine’s either FFIX or FFX. The others didn’t hold too much appeal, mostly because of a boring battling system. (FFVII comes close to these two)

FF7 had the higest popular appeal and resulted in the biggest turnover for the RPG market. It could be safely said that FF7 was the game that turned RPGs from a niche market to something profitable.

Now wether that was a good thing or not depends on the person, for while it helped to increase the RPG market, it also didn’t help use when it came to a certian class of lamers. But either way, I’m glad the outcome that occured did, for we wouldn’t have as many games to look forward to nowadays.

Was FFVII really the first 3-D engine game?

My favorite FF over all is Final Fantasy III for famicom followed by FFT. Though it varies and next time it may be FFIX or whatever.
I’m still playing FF2 to see if that will surpass it.

St.Ajora

VIII is my all time favourite game, so obviously, it’s my favourite Final Fantasy :stuck_out_tongue: However, I never really got into RPGs until FFVII opened my mind like it did. I owe that game a lot for a genre of games I’d never even dreamed of before.

No, there were others before it, but it was the first 3D FF.

So it was only the first 3-D FF? Not even the first 3-D RPG?

I’m not sure about that, there might have been, but I wasn’t too big on RPGS then. Calling it 3d may be a little of a strech, asseing as how the only things that were 3d were the modles and battle backgrounds. Geuss I could check the database…

Edit: after some research Persona had the first 3D dungeons, and Wild Arms had the first 3D polygons in battle.

If we’re only talking about RPGs, yes, FF7 was the first “real” pseudo-3D RPG (it wasn’t fully 3D, nor were any RPGs for PSX besides for Xenogears - and even that had sprites for characters). But there were plenty of other games in 3D before FF7. Heck, even the SNES had 3D games (remember StarFox?).

FF7 or FFTactics
