Filthy Oversized Toaster!

I’ve had it with this crappy graphics card! I’ve been having all sorts of weird problems with my computer, and I think that piece of trash is to blame. Half of the games it used to run perfectly or at least acceptably before are always getting their graphics messed up, or locking up, sometimes even forcing the computer to restart. Worse than that, after those forced reboots I even get messages saying that the system has recovered from a serious error.
A couple of days ago, I turned that oversized toaster on, and I got an error related to the file structure or something. I couldn’t open a damn thing.
Things seemed to get better after the system ran a special checking program on the next reboot, but since explorer.exe kept giving error messages when I tried checking stuff like file and folder sizes, I performed a system restore, from a checkpoint from last month.

Still, I keep getting those annoying graphics problems, and they even got worse when I updated the drivers. As examples, Starcraft’s menus appear with the colors all messed up, when I play KOTOR or Freedom Fighters, the graphics get messed up or the game starts locking up after a few minutes… heck, I even had to uninstall Neverwinter Nights. It used to run decently, then it started locking up like that, and then it came to a point where I’d get an “access violation” error every time I tried to run it. What the hell?!

Damn, this computer is getting on my nerves! I perform regular system and antivirus updates, defrag both disks at least once a month, I even went through the trouble of getting spyware removers, I always make sure I don’t cram up the disks… and this is the thanks I get from that stupid machine?!

What the hell should I do about it? I can’t format it right now, because I’d lose a lot of files I haven’t been able to copy somewhere safe, but at this rate…
I suspect there may also be something wrong with the RAM chips, but I don’t know. I guess I’ll need to have a specialist check this thing.

Get a gfx card that doesn’t suck…?

Or if you have an Nvidia, get a Radeon. If you have an Nvidia the odds are it isn’t running games as well since most games use DirectX, and Radeon is much better with DirectX than Nvidia is.

Uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

Find out what your refresh rate is on your monitor, and see if it can go any higher.
