The alternative title for this thread is: ADV’s subtitles font sucks ass. I just got my copy of Elfen Lied the other day, and while the dubbing is far from bad, I still prefer the Japanese audio. There’s just something about some of the inflections that I think should have been done differently, and in a foreign language, I can more easily ignore such points since my brain doesn’t quite fully process the speech patterns. Unfortunately, ADV likes using a hideous black-outlined yellow font that never matches the atmosphere of the series. Sure, it’s pretty much always guarenteed to be readable, but would it kill them to put a little effort into making a more aesthetically pleasing font? I mean, if the people doing it for free can make it look better than the professionals, there’s something wrong.
ADV’s sub suck. A lot.
JESUS. Every single time I buy a DVD I end up liking the fansubs more.
Bastards didn’t include the OVA. F*** you ADV. It’s included in the Japanese series, but not the translated one. Dammit, that’s half the reason I bought it. It was one episode, those A-holes. They’re gonna get a piece of my mind.
That’s because they didn’t license the OVA. It’s not good anyway.
