Fallout 2 wierdness...

I started up a new game and decided to go straight to San Francisco instead of going through the never ending sidequest. After abusing the steal skill in the weapon shop and the doctor’s office there in order to get set up with a good old T-51b power armor suit, a gauss rifle, gauss pistol and a bozar, I set out to explore the wastes in search of things to kill. After wandering for a few hours of real time, I decided to go see what was going on in some of the other towns only to discover that the shops were spawning with no stock. I seem to have wandered the wastes for about 7 years and now none of the shops that sell explosives have them so I can’t go raid the military base.

Has anyone else encountered this sort of problem?

I havent played FO2 yet (working to finish FO1, but my game keeps glitching to keep me from beating it >:(), but I hear that both games are VERY buggy (and, uh, I know firsthand about FO1’s bugginess). I do hear tell of FO2 fanpatches, though I’m not sure if I could direct you to them, but I can hope to have pointed you in the right direction.

I did a quick bit of reading on gamefaqs… apparently time passes really fast on the world map if you have a fast machine. Doesn’t explain the shop oddities, since I still have 6 years till the game ends, but it does have me thinking about downloading moslo before I start another game.
