People voted for Bush because more than anything else, he gave us ground to stand on as a nation.
Yes, generally when you occupy two entire countries and remove any excess homan bodies, you have a little more groud to stand on.
And by the way, from the rest of the world’s perspective, America has definately lost ground, not gained, and what you have left is not firm, but littered with political landmines. In other words, people still voted on misconceptions either way. Bush should not be president.
I agree with Sin in that you are either in denial or deliberately contradicting the truth to appear insightful.
And I agree with SK that if Bush persists in his agressive wars, exposing his thinly-spread forces to middle-eastern guerrilla zealotry, it could serioously compromise the very thing Bush claims to be trying to protect: safety. And no, I’m not talking about a soldier’s safety, or that guy at the store’s saftey, or that woman across the street’s safety. I’m talking about your safety.
I think the neoconservatives want good justification to wipe the middle east off the map by making sure that they all become Islamic fundamentlists ready to do the extreme.
Hence why people think that Bush will start WW3 in the next 4 years.
I don’t think Bush will start WW3, but I do think that both yours and my ecomony are fucked. Yours because of the war, my countries because of all the American companies that are going to pull out.
Listen, I can’t stand Bush, but I have come to see why MANY people do want him as our leader. Despite countless bullheaded moves and a severe loss of American respect in other nations, Bush has reestablished the American cowboy image in his own retarded way. Whether people are right or wrong for supporting this image is not what I am arguing. I am arguing that Bush has offered a much clearer outline of what it is to be American. He has done this by creating a huge chasm between the US and the rest of the world, thereby removing any confusion and middle ground, but he has done this anyway.
I am not saying that I like what he did AT ALL, but I can understand how people, in their fear and reactionary mindsets could VERY easily follow a leader who has done this. And yes, things aren’t the best ever, but I would like to remind the members of this forum that RONALD REAGAN was our President too, and the world didn’t exploded then. Yes, Reagan found a way to fit a fire hydrant in the ass of countless future generations, but he didn’t ruin everything, and Bush won’t be able to either.
I am rather quite pissed about it all, but unlike countless ranters, I am looking for more than the word ‘propaganda’ and terms that mean ignorant to explain how over HALF the voting populace of the Goddamned country could vote for someone as irresponsible and corrupt. I am not playing ignorant or waxing introspective. I am honestly looking at what it takes for millions of people to support a corrupt little grinning weasel. Propaganda can only go so far. It takes a certain state of mind to accept the propaganda and let it take root.
People voted for him because they’re weak minded sheep with self deluded hypocritical sets of “values” that provide them with a false security, just like Bush does by wasting billions of dollars. The answer is simple. Any other explanation goes back to this point at its very basics.
Yeah! Instead of having a rather good definition of the American dream, he has managed to destroy any sort of empathy and sympathy the world might have for americans! Expect to see immigration rates DROP LIKE FLIES, SUCKA!
Well maybe you are fine with taking an elitist attitude towards the rest of our country, but any time I start thinking that I am infinitely superior to millions of people, I usually check myself and try to understand them rather than just devalue them. People may or may not be a bunch of weak willed sheep, but I know that its not my place to insult over half the nation in one fell swoop. There is a certain point that I reach in my superiority complex where I stop and think that maybe there is something out there besides my opinion that holds water. So yeah, have fun on the summit of intellect, I think I’ll stick at least a little closer to reality, and deal with it rather than damn my fellow countrymen.
