Apparently, it’s been quite a day or two as far as weather and natural disasters are concerned.
The Northeast has that crazy-ass shitstorm of snow.
LA getting pelted with rain and storms (not really news, but I laughed).
Chile getting hit with that massive 8.8 earthquake.
Impending (?) tsunamis for stuff in the Pacific.
Apparently a 4.4 earthquake in Oklahoma (really?)
We had a tsunami warning. Some of my friends had to evacuate to higher ground until a little while ago. My parents and friends have been texting me all night trying to make sure I was fine.
Hope you’ll be okay; keep in contact with your local friends. Hawaii isn’t your home state?
Ultratech, 4,4 isn’t anything special even if Oklahoma doesn’t get shaken often. Remember that these numbers are powers of ten, so 4,4 is over 10000 times weaker than 8,8.
North East gets snow in the winter. That’s fucking unheard of.
LA got 2 days of rain during its rainy season. HOLY FUCK WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!
Chile getting hit with that massive 8.8 earthquake. HOLY SHIT A COUNTRY LOCATED ON MOUNTAINS CREATED BY A PLATE SLIDING UNDER ANOTHER HAS A MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE ALERT THE ENTIRE PACIFIC RIM THAT GEOLOGY IS HAPPENING.
Impending tsunamis for stuff in the Pacific. Large earthquakes make large waves in the pacific, how very strange that shaking water makes waves.
Apparently a 4.4 earthquake in Oklahoma. So what? It happens, it’s rare there, and a 4.4 is basically nothing and I would be surprised if the damage was any more severe than knocking over a few shoddily built fences.
The only thing really even newsworthy is the Chilean earthquake with follow up tsunamis. Even then Chile is a country that has the infrastructure to stand up to it so you won’t see the insane death and devastation that we saw with say Haiti.
Haha, I went home for Christmas and suffered like a 5.something Earthquake, and when I got home in early January, we had a 6.8 or something like that. We had another 6.something a few weeks ago, too. I live right by the bay, and we even got the Tsunami warning from the earthquake in Chile.
