Drive not accessible?!

Dammit my CD drive on this computer is broken or something. It says its not accessible when I try to use it so my games aint working, my Dad admits he turned it on, opened the drive and took a CD out then turned it off before the computer started up. So can anyone help me fix this so I can carry on with my gaming?

Go into your device manager (in system under the control panel) and look to see if your CD drive is still listed and if it has an error by it (!).

It says the device is working properly.

Unplug it then plug it back in. See if that does anything.

I ended up reinstalling Windows when the same thing happened to me. I remember going to ridiculous efforts to get my CD drive to work beforehand with no success.

I eventually found that my computer, at boot, could detect boot CD’s and run them. That proved that Windows was at fault. If you have a boot CD available, see if it works.

See what Disk Management has to say about the drive. With and without data in it.

Also see if the BIOS detects it, and has the right parameters set.
