I don’t know whether I’ve just got a skewed view from how the fans portray him in fiction, or how Square has actually been doing it recently, but it seems between KH, KH2, and Advent Children, (and probably in future games) Cloud became a lot more taciturn and brooding. I believe this is much different than how he was portrayed in the original FF7, which is the Cloud fans fell in love with. Do you like the new Cloud? Is he a plausible Cloud? Or does Square need to turn him back to the way he was, more of a regular joe with a kind of awkward teenager vibe?
It’s not that big of a change for me, keep it. Plus I liked the KH one better than KH2, as in the style of their dress.
I like the newer CLoud more. he seems more aware of his problems and knowledgeable about how fucked up they are. Besides, he’s avoiding Tifa, which is ALWAYS a good step towards recovery.
The KH/KH2/AC Cloud is one that already went through FF7 and is now kicking himself over all the things he could have/should have done. So it’s not like they changed the character so much as the character changed itself. Similar to Yuna in FFX-2 (I know a lot of people think the new look/attitude is too far the other side, but it does fit into her character based on what happened at the end of FFX).
Cloud is certainly a lot cooler now, but nowhere near as fun to be around.
I don’t like either Cloud… he’s over rated to the max.
I think he is more serious because of FFVII…so putting him back to being an awkward teenager wouldn’t be right. Besides, he would be older, so it wouldn’t work anyways
I think Cloud is going down the drain, the more he appears in new games/movies. If you have a style over substance character give him some style! Fact is most people came into FF by means of FFVII, so Cloud is what we’ll be getting. I’d prefer FFVI, but at least it won’t get spoiled by revisits.
(Well, at least they aren’t making stories about Cecil)
In FFVII and KHII, Cloud seemd too cought up in his quest for revenge to think about his problems too much. But in KH and AC he wasn’t as distracted. In KH he was looking for his “light” (Aeris, I assume) and in AC he was looking for forgiveness, so he did distance himself from others and become taciturn as a result.
