Death Note

Watch it. Best anime I’ve ever seen.

I just got the first book of the manga out of the library… looks interesting.

I don’t think I can; I hate Light. I’ve seen the first three episodes, and I don’t know if I care to rewatch the story if it’s exactly the same as the manga, but I’ve heard that the ending is different. Does anyone know at what point the plot diverges?

Instead of Ryuuk killing Light in front of everyone at the warehouse, the crazy guy who had the notebook stabbed himself and distracted everyone. Light limped away from the warehouse and began to “run” away from them like a wounded mouse trying to escape a snake. He goes up some stairs and as he does, Ryuuk is sitting on top of a tower and writes Light’s name down. Light dies on a staircase and his eyes shut at the end of the credits. Thats all. I watched the last episode to see what was so different, but… meh. I want a side story to see how things would’ve went had Light won.

From what Cro said, the anime ending is much better. It gets to the same point and is much more artistic.. And yes you’re supposed to hate Light, but I guess its hard to watch a show about people you hate.

I believe there actually was one, an alternate ending. I’ll see if I can dig up a link.
Edit: That was fast. Here you go. Alternate Ending!
It’s pretty meh, in my opinion.

That’s pretty dumb.

Dunno if it’s official or whatever, I just remembered seeing it a while back. Yeah, I definitely prefer the normal ending.

I’ll check it out when it’s on TV on Saturday.

Oh hells yes this is one awesome anime.

Though funnily enough I didn’t find watching Light hard because I disliked him, I found watching him hard because he’s a weak character.

Seriously, I found him to actually be the weakest character in the show, the one who has by far the least character development (except for like, the reporter and Mikami or whoever that crazy guy in the last episode was, but come on…anyone say minor characters?). He just goes from crazy to…well, pretty much the same.

L is so incredibly awesome though. So. Damn. Awesome. I also quite like Near, though not as much. And from what little I’ve seen (it was very little) that arc seemed more developed in the manga than it was in the anime. Still fun though.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Man, it wasn’t even that, that was a-okay. But the only real difference was in his character. He still used people only as tools, from start to finish, to achieve his goals.

Eh, I didn’t like the anime or mangas 2nd arc, but I did enjoy the two movies alot

I’ve only seen the two movies, and I enjoyed them thuroughly. I’ve considered watching the anime, but I’d have to put it on the list of other shows.

Like having a HR department. Anyway, I was impressed to see a full page article in the papers on Death Note. That’s as rare here as getting into a new geological age.

Screenshot or it didn’t happen.

Death Note is my favorite animé and mangá ever. A far cry from those “need ot get stronger” or harem/kawaii animés.

Now, I had finished reading the whole mangá before starting the series, and I think I went up to episode 19 or 20 on the animé. Then I watched the movie, which pretty much follows the story told in the mangá but Misa doesn’t get to meet Light in it. Also, Light dates a girl named Shiori, which is killed by Misora. Misora then kills the girl and herself, then L and Light’s father arrive on the crime scene a few hours later and meet with him, which is the point where the movie ends. I know there’s a second movie called Death Note: the Last Name, and now I’m looking forward to watching it.

edit: is is me, or does Misora look slightly like Sin?

Here’s the link to the article, it’s in Greek as you might expect. You can see “Death Note” all over. I must buy a digicam sometime.

“The power of words is worth tons of steel and the phenomenon of ‘eVoodoo’ of Death Note fits like a glove our age”. Didn’t say it was a good article.

I’m a big Death Note fan, so I’ve read all the mangas, and seen both movies. Although I haven’t gotten around to seeing the full anime though. I think I’m episode 30 or something. I actually started watching it when I had a friend sleeping over my house, and we saw a Death Note video on Youtube, and basically went, “Hey, wanna watch that?”, “Okay.” (We got to episode 14 before that sleepover was done). I’ve converted just about all my friends into liking it since.

I love Death Note too

L’s my favourite character…too bad he lol I’m still not telling you
