Does anyone know any good online stores where you can order customized laptops with 17" displays? So far, the best I’ve found seems to be Hewlett-Packard’s site; others are either too expensive or don’t let you specify enough details.
Fujitsu laptops are very cheap for the quality, highly customizable, and almost never break.

Fujitsu-Siemens are very nice, maybe a bit expensive though. And yes I know, Acer and Asus don’t build customs. They’re still worth a look though. If you’re not afraid of lousy suport, you might even want to check out small local companies. They often have very good deals. Apple’s included because Niflheim ( My PowerMac ) insisted.
