Conservapedia

Conservapedia to the rescue!

snigger

The Crusades… Good or Bad? page is invaluable.

I like how quickly Conservapedia was recognized for what it is.

All I can say is: this would be funny if the guys running “Conservapedia” weren’t serious about it.

I am sure they did it for lulz; either their own or ours… most likely ours.

:kissy:

Theory of Relativity: “Nothing useful has even been built based on the theory of relativity.…‘All things are relative’ became popular as atheists and others used relativity to attack Christian values. There remains enormous political support for the theory of relativity that has nothing to do with physics, and Congress continues to spend billions of dollars unsuccessfully searching for particles predicted by the theory of relativity.”

headdesk -.-

This has GOT to be satire. There is simply no other rational explanation.

Then again, I’m assuming rationality is somehow involved in this…

Ser, never underestimate the power of human stupidity.

Conservapedia itself isn’t meant to be a joke. Given that it unintentionally is, though, a lot of the articles have been spammed.

unlike Wikipedia, which I gather from the name, is based on Wiccan.

That’s funny, that right there shows a lack of knowledge.

the theroy of gravity(it should be noted that gravity, like evolution, is just a theroy and has never been proven to be true)

I’ll admit that I’m a bit skeptic about that comment, so to the writer of that comment, go and dispell my doubts by jumping off a cliff or a simalarly sudden change of topographical elevation and miss the perferably hard, jagged, and painful landing zone directly below. I would request that you have someone record this feat (make sure that your accessory gets a nice close-up of your [STRIKE]mangled corpse[/STRIKE] three-point landing), and then bequeath the footage to YouTube for the whole world to see the folly of their ways.

“However, atheists tend to be disliked by the general public for their beliefs. There are schools, especially in Texas, established for the sole purpose of saving the Atheist, whose godless life is a direct road to Hell. Almost no atheist believes in Hell, and thus they tend not to be frightened when a well-meaning Christian warns them about the Devil and the third degree burns sinners will receive.”

lawl

Third-degree burns? Oh lawd no!

The blog writer was obviously being sarcastic.

Yeah I red an article about this a few weeks back. I have a pretty anti US conservative muslim friend for whom I looked up Islam on conservapedia. They had a nice first part on their page. The bottom part of the page was so ridiculous I didn’t quite know what to say.

Conservapedia was founded by its most prolific writer Andrew Schlafly, the non-gay son of Phyllis Schlafly,

Not to be confused with Andrew Schlafly, the gay son of Phyllis Schlafly.

Nice find Rig. I love the spin on the Scopes trial. It looks like William Jennings Bryan publicly humiliated Clarence Darrow. Yes, all the laughter and applause heard in the court clearly demonstrated that the “godless commie” was totally pwned by the ex-Secretary of State. Somehow, I was under the impression that it was the other way around.
Just a snippet from the “Monkey trial” -
Bryan: “I do not think about things I don’t think about.”
Darrow: " Do you think about the things you do think about?"
Bryan: “Well, sometimes.”

Hasn’t the theory of gravity actually been disproven? I mean, it’s still accurate enough to use for most most anything besides extremely small and extremely large objects and situations (like quantam and cosmic sized), but wasn’t it?

Newton’s model of gravity has been disproven, although gravity in general has not been. Though the “theory of gravity” should be taken as an understanding of why and how gravity works rather than some arcane prescription for your death if you fall off a cliff.

I think Conservapedia is a shame for every serious conservative organisation. I read, among others, a conservative newspaper which is great concerning cultural matters. But there’s a difference between conservatism and irrationality. Removing bias from Wikipedia is just a ruse, creating a personal soapbox seems more like it.

And they seem ridiculous, until you remind yourself someone may be getting a little bit of “education” from their website.

They’re not.
