Classical Rock?

Does anybody know of classical (strings, to be precise) rock? Something like the cover of Metallica by a strings quartet (they have a CD for it) or what plays in the party scene from xXx: State of the Union? I’m just looking for some more quick-tempoed stuff.

Thanks.

There was this dude that did awesome guitar work. He and his wife make this duo called the Robert Simon Project. You may not be able to find it. They were a pair I heard play at Disney and distribute their CDs in an open area. Its latin music but damn, you will never see someone play the classical guitar like that.

Their name is Apocalyptica. Other than that, I can’t think of any bands like them off the top of my head, but I shall be thinking.

Symphony X

They’re neo-classical progressive but they’re amazing… Hard to find that many songs on the net though…

A lot of metal is classical influenced, but that’s probably not what you’re looking for.

I have a strings quartet version of Iron Maiden’s Two Minutes to Midnight.

I love the spanish guitar. You can pick up one of those cheapo classics cds at best buy of it like I did. It was only $4.00 and had a lot of good guitar on it.

Are you referring to covers of rock songs? The London Philharmonic does covers of quite a few rock songs. I have them doing pink floyd and led zeppelin. It’s not all strings, but they do use them a lot.

Yes and no to covers. I’d prefer original stuff, but I do like me my covers.
