They made up for the new equipment being awesome by making the bonus areas require insane amounts of backtracking.
And lets not forget the additional boss fight that nets you the brand new TRUE ending where your entire party gets plot killed save for Magus (who gets memory wiped in time for Cross). Because even with all that additional ridiculous loot its literally impossible to beat him due to not having a specific plot device made from multiple plot devices found throughout the Cross multiverse.

Depends what you mean by beat. I finished that fight pretty easily, and probably could have with just the Prism stuff too.

I dunno, I thought the Lunar Ruins and the ability to use the other characters in FFIVA was pretty good. But yeah, Fuck Chrono Trigger DS. My own personal peeve about that game: They’re the Mystics, not the Fiends.
