Camel Spider Devouring a Lizard

That centipede thread reminded me that I was going to post this:

http://www.big-boys.com/articles/camelspider.html

Uh there’s some questionable advertising on that website, though, so I don’t know how long this thread is going to last. Good video though!

Yeah thats what this forum needs. more camel spiders.

:moogle: Yum lizards.

I thought Camel Spiders were fake…

No we had a whole thread on them a few months back. :moogle:

Huh, I guess so. Crazy.

I’ve seen much cooler, a emperor scorpion eating a lizard. The scorpion was bigger than that spider and the lizard was bigger than the scorpion.

No, but they’re often exaggerated as huge man-killing beasties ever since that picture of the soldier picking up one that appeared huge due to the perspective. They’re not that big or deadly. They just look fucking evil.

Woah. Unlike the centipede, that thing was BIGGER then I expected. I’ve seen pictures before, but none of 'em showed a good size comparison. Also, Sorc: Camel spiders are real. The stories about them chasing you to jump on your face and kill you, or killing you in your sleep, are not. They might follow you, but that’s only so they can bask in the precious shade you provide.

Was 2 spiders, 2 unusually large ones at that, so it really was that big and not ze illusion.

If we’re thinking about the same picture then yeah, you’re right. I bet most people are assuming that the picture of the guy holding up two was just a single spider. All the other stuff about it burrowing into your butt when you sit down and laying eggs in you and you not feeling it is because it has a natural anaesthetic is crap though.

I think that might be fake. The spider’s not very animated, I doubt it has the grip strength to hold up that lizard, and it doesn’t move anywhere at all. Even spiders that are eating are disturbed when approached, so why not this one?

Why not Kraken? There are spiders that eat birds.

Yeah, but while suspended from a piece of plywood? I also don’t see any reference points to where the picture is supposed to be.

Not to mention the video’s blurry and it looks a little more monochromatic than other pictures of Camel Spiders I’ve seen.

It looks fake to me, too. Its not just the fact it can hold itself there but that it doesn’t react to the people that found it in, aggressively or otherwise.

I for one am suspicious of it being but it still kicks ass…in a nasty gross way.Ew

There’s also no cues as to where the video was taken, which is suspicious. I’m sure there would be video of the people shooting the footage as well, if only to go “Holy shit this is gross!” or doing a Jaques Cousteau type “Here we have zee camel spidair. It eez eating zee gecko.”
