Raising you team level to 14, and still never seeing anything. That is bad. I would suggest before starting your next tournament save it. Then reset if the prizes are not what you want.
Blitzball is cake for me and my team. I personally think Brother’s the best thing Blitzball has to offer, but maybe that’s just me. Here’s my line-up:

How many games are in a league
I think you have to play each of the other teams twice or thrice, can’t exactly remember. But that would mean you have to play 10, or 15, games in a leaque.
