“Your email client couldn’t perform the requested operation. Open Outlook and set it as your default email application.”
Or something along those lines. The problem is, I don’t know what operation it’s talking about and I want it gone so that I can use other clients in peace. Good lord, I’ve been avoiding starting up my comp for this reason, so the electricity bill will be pretty high this year.
Are you using XP? You should be able to uninstall Outlook. If you can’t, run a cool little program called msconfig. It’ll let you control what applications get run when your OS boots up. Just try experimenting, turn one off, see if that works, move to the next, and so forth. Eventually you’ll turn off whatever is causing the problem.
Oh, and the above solutions apply to about any version of Windows. I’m not even sure why I asked if you were running XP.
It’s a good thing that God created Linux in all his wisdom and made it virus-proof, crash-proof, idiot-proof, and easier to use than a ham sandwich. And on top of that, instantly empowers the Linux user with knowledge over everything related to computers, makes the Linux user a superior human being in general, enlarges the Linux user’s penis to the size of a small firetruck, and causes females to fall into heat and beg to be taken at the Linux user’s knees.
I mean, honestly, with benefits like that, who wouldn’t use Linux? Only us crazy Windows users, that’s who. But that’ll be fixed, the Linux fanatics will make sure of it. How? By spamming the living shit out of anyone who’s not using it yet. That’s how. Just like AOL, but without the benefit of free CD cases.
I haven’t seen or heard about this happening before. If you have a legal version of Windows XP, I’m sure Microsoft’s TechHelp would only be obliged to help. They’re suprisingly fast too.

Like all big software companies, Microsoft provides you with free support. Support.microsoft.com, they helped me once, took less than half an hour for them to respond too.
I believe there is an option in other navigation programs (IE, Netscape, etc.) that makes that program the default one so you don’t have worry about Outlook.
I’m sorry I can’t offer much more help, Outlook is the only MS Office program that I don’t use.
Originally posted by Tenchimaru Draconis That’s not the problem. I can easily switch to another client, but I’d keep on getting that godforsaken warning.
You could try to email them, or give them a call. Like all Tech Supporters they’re badly treated slaves who’s sole purpose is to serve you.
