Amish Paradise - UNIX version

Once again: Got really bored when I was waiting for the system to upgrade. Enyoy!

UNIX Paradise
(Text: Myself, Music: … Whoever wrote Gangsta’s Paradise)

As I log on to the server where I’m storing my mail
I take a look at my desktop and realize it’s very plain
But that’s just perfect for a geek like me
You know I shun fancy things like KDE
At 4:30 in the morning I’m codin’ C
My RSS feeds fill my blog while gcc compile… fool
And I’ve been codin’ and hackin’ so long that
Even my closest friends thinks that my mind is gone
I’m a man of computers, I am undisciplined
Got a keyboard in my hand and a beard on my chin
But if I finish all of my scripts and you finish thine
Then tonight we’re gonna Quake on like it’s 1999

We been spending most our lives
Living in an UNIX paradise
I’ve coded drivers once or twice
Living in an UNIX paradise
It’s hard work and sacrifice
Living in an UNIX paradise
We sell software at discount price
Living in an UNIX paradise

An 31337 d00d hacked into my server last week
I just smiled at him and I turned the other cheek
I really don’t care, in fact I wish him well
'cause I’ll be laughing my head off when I’m hacking his Dell
But I ain’t never punched a lamer even if he deserved it
A geek without a 'tude
You know that’s unheard of
I never wear a suit but I got a cool hat
And my homies agree
I really look good in black… fool
If you come to visit, you’ll be bored to tears
We haven’t even upgraded xfree for 3 or so years
But we ain’t really quaint, so please don’t point and stare
We’re just the technological elite

There’s no games, no 'cam, no 3D-apps
Not a single luxury
Like a Star Trek Borg cube
It’s as optimized as can be

We been spending most our lives
Living in an UNIX paradise
We’re just plain and simple guys
Living in an UNIX paradise
There’s no time for games and vice
Living in an UNIX paradise
We don’t crack, we all play nice
Living in an UNIX paradise

Hitchin’ up the server, coding lots of clutter
Compiled a prog on monday, soon I’ll compile anutter
Think you’re really geeky?
Think you’re pure in heart?
Well, I know I’m a million times as geeky as thou art
I’m the pious guy the little geeklettes wants to bless
On my knees day and night scorin’ drivers for the UNIX-OS
So don’t crack games and don’t be whiny
Or else, my brother, I might have to get medieval on your heinie

We been spending most our lives
Living in an UNIX paradise
We’re all crazy mennonites
Living in an UNIX paradise
There’s no warez or pretty lights
Living in an UNIX paradise
But you’d probably think it bites
Living in an UNIX paradise

Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh
Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-yecch!

I wonder if I should get help or something…

Aside from this one part that doesn’t rhyme…

“But we ain’t really quaint, so please don’t point and stare
We’re just the technological elite”

It’s great! Very creative take on a Weird Al classic! You should make it your signature, Wertigon! 8) Also, maybe change it to say “please don’t call us geeks”, as that kind of rhymes with “elite”.

Again, it’s great!
:victoly:

EDIT: It was Coolio who wrote Gangster’s Paradise. He was last seen on Beat the Geeks for a brief stint, and I think he was on a Fox Celebrity Boot Camp thing, which means he probably isn’t a celebrity anymore. 8P

Cool

now I’ve just gotta find Gimme gimme gimme…
And build my own karaoke mashine…
<strike>And take over the world…</strike> You didn’t hear that…
:stuck_out_tongue:

You must have been really bored, that’s got to have taken you ages. The one line that Dalton mentioned does stand out a little, but apart from that it’s fantastic.

Ah, parodies, such beautiful things they are!

I haven’t done a song parody for so long, now I’m getting all nostalgic… parodies are the cornerstone to the modern music civilization. Personally, I thought it was great! Very, very clever.

UNIX…hehehe

Heee. Nice one again Wert.

EDIT: N/m- “Gangsta’s Paridise” is given credit. I THINK its Coolio- don’t quote me on this.

Well you could always claim it as a parody of Gangsta’s Paradise. Does it really matter?
