Ahahahaaa! Hoo, that's rich, guys! ... what, you're serious? (Dragonball movie cast)

And speaking of “Totally Clueless Movie Adaptations”: I’m sure many of you have heard that Avatar: The Last Airbender is being done as a live action movie- by M. Night Shyamalan, of all people. But did you know that, SUPPOSEDLY the main characters have been casted already… and they’re ALL CAUCASIAN?

http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2008/12/shyamalan-casts.html

You could argue that, not being set on the REAL world, the various tribes of the series might be of any color, but come on- the WHOLE point of Avatar was to do a fantasy epic that spotlighted Oriental beliefs and cultures for a Western audience. Besides, there’s plenty of openings for young white actors, how about giving Asiatic ones a chance?

Unless that is supposed to be Night’s surprise twist ending. :stuck_out_tongue:

Goku looks too androgynous. It doesn’t really capture the masculine essence of the cartoon, where he always looks pissed off and ready to kill someone.

EDIT: Wilfredo: Considering that M Night Shyamalan’s last three movies have each been progressively worse than the one they followed, this can’t be good…

no no no no No No NO NO NO NO >_<

I was saddened by the lack of neck scarf on speed. I never used to watch the show, but that’s all I could distinctly remember about him. That and he was my introduction to, “Wait…that’s a guy?”

My mom and I found out about this movie awhile back when we were looking up some actor that was playing in a movie we were watching. She looked at me with a puzzled expression and said, “Really?”

Judging by the !! the Japanese characters at the end must stand for LOL. Dragonball games suck by default unless proven not to. The gba non-GT ones were fun.

Jesus tapdancing Christ on a pink pogo stick Christmas tree cracker, Hollywood! Stop it, just STOP IT!

MTV’s Movie Blog recently spoke to Keanu Reeves about plans for the Hollywood adaptation of popular (in North America at least) sci-fi western anime Cowboy Bebop. According to Reeves, Cowboy Bebop currently revolves around expanding the anime’s first episode, “Asteroid Blues,” into a two hour movie, with producer Erwin Stoff minding the project at 20th Century Fox. “We’ve got the rights, we’ve got a writer,” Keanu explained. “He’s putting together a scene outline.”

“Oh yeah, cool,” he said when I asked him about the flick recently. “We’re trying to do that.”

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I pray that movie never, ever comes to fruition. Seriously.

On an another note, why don’t Hollywood come up with something original instead of trying to make a movie of whatever comes on TV. (Oh wait, they can’t!)

Haha, good one Weiila, you almost had me going there.

You did almost have me going there, right? This isn’t for real, right?! Oh god. ;.; DAMN YOU HOLLYWOOD!

The fist fucking episode isn’t even what Cowboy Bebop is all about >_<

Fuck it. Fuck Hollywood. Fuck retards >=|

Quick! Hide Samus before they disfigure Metroid too!

sigh Manus, you do realize they’ve already made comics of Metroid in the past. It’s not much longer til they find her.

And does anyone remember this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Bros._(film)
And yes, I have that movie on VHS…And it’s still as bad as ever.

So Manus, don’t hold your breath. They ruined Mario 15 years ago, I’m suprised Samus and Link haven’t been shot in the face by Hollywood yet.

…Hollywood…FUCK YOU!!! Who’s next?! Big O! Inuyasha! FUCKING NARUTO!!! Nothing is safe from Hollywood anymore! They must be stopped before everything is shot in the face by their horrible screen adaptations(seriously, the only good Comic/TV/Anime/Manga movies I can think of are Dark Knight, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk(new one, not old one)).

I actually liked the SMB movie. It was “so bad it’s good”. 8p Whacked, but good.

^ what he said.

The Super Mario Bros. movie does have some campy value (some, not a lot, but at least it’s there).

Despite what Sin says, I liked Speed Racer, dammit. Sure it was utterly ridiculous, but that’s what Speed Racer IS.

Perhaps Speed Racer went too far in trying to emulate the style of the show, whereas Dragon Ball: Evo(retch)lution seems to be hitting the exact opposite end of that spectrum and has it looking like a new creation entirely. Can’t we have some happy medium, Hollywood?

I love the “Free Dragonball RPG Game” banner ad over this thing. I hate it when people say things like “ATM Machine” and “PIN Number” but I’ve never heard “RPG Game” before.

Look at this article, BTW- Keanu Reeves actually isn’t a terrible choice for Spike:

"Spike Spiegel, Cowboy Bebop’s main character:

Is thought to be cooler than he actually is
Is famous for a one word catch phrase
Has a tragic past involving a girlfriend
Is from another planet
Knows kung fu

Keanu Reeves:

Is thought to be cooler than he actually is
Is famous for a one word catch phrase
Has a tragic past involving a girlfriend
Is thought to be from another planet, but he’s actually just from Canada
Knows kung fu"

The cowboy bebop animated movie was EXCELLENT. This could go very very badly, just like the Death Note live action movie -_-.

As far as the DBZ movie goes, I saw a recent trailer and while I don’t think it will be that great, it also is possible it won’t be the catastrophe we all expect it to be. Plenty of stupid action movies have come around and for example, I expect it to be about as good as Forbidden Kingdom, at worst. So it will probably be bad but not Uwe Boll bad.

And now for something positive. (Sadly though, I’ll be much less so for you fans of Spy Hunter out there.)

Two things. First those comics were done by NP who either did fairly good jobs at keeping with the given source material or recruited professionals (most likely this one) to do the job for them (i.e. The LoZ:LttP comic). And second they’ve already found her, but god knows what they’re up to at this point (and frankly I don’t want to know).
